SEATTLE (AP) -- An American Indian Tribe in Washington state has adopted a law recognizing gay marriage, making it only the second tribe in the country known to do so.

The Suquamish Tribal Council voted Monday to extend marriage rights to same-sex couples on its reservation near Seattle, after the measure gained support from more than 100 tribal members at a meeting this spring.

Will we get in trouble for posting gay Indian names? I’ll test the water: Runs Like a Girl.

The change in tribal law came after a four-year campaign by a lesbian tribal member, 28-year-old Heather Purser, whose Indian name is “Brave Hater Who Loves Squaws”.

"I wanted to feel accepted by my tribe," Purser said Tuesday.

Imagine for a moment if I went to work and started talking about my taste in women, commenting on particular desirable traits. I would be fired for sexual harassment.

Imagine if I accosted a second grader, describing my sexual proclivities. I would be beaten to a pulp (rightfully so) or become a member of Megan's List.

What do liberals call the two scenarios above?

Progress.

This is OLD NEWS and we must MOVE ON. The subject was maturely handled in the Dustin Hoffman film, "Little Big Man".

Fake tribe; until recently it was a universal taboo.

How many of their chiefs in years past had male “partners”?
