(CNSNews.com) – In remarks on the Senate floor Monday, Majority Leader Harry Reid made it clear he’s longing to go home.
“I have a home in Nevada that I haven’t seen in months,” Reid said. “My pomegranate trees are, I’m told, blossoming and have some pomegranates on them. I have some fig trees and roses and things that I just haven’t seen.”
The Senate is expected to vote at noon Tuesday on a debt ceiling bill that’s been weeks in the making.
Reid, along with other congressional leaders, has worked for the past two weekends to reach the “compromise” that will cut some spending eventually, while raising the nation’s borrowing authority immediately.
“It’s been a pretty hard work period we’ve had, the last two weekends and working late, and I think the Senate deserves to be able to go home as soon as we can," he said. “If there were ever a time when we need to work with our constituents, it’s now.”
The Senate’s scheduled recess runs from Aug. 8 to Sept. 5 – plenty of time for Reid to contact “constituents that I’m anxious to see, friends I need to visit with, relatives I need to visit with.”
On Monday, the 71-year-old Reid said as soon as the Senate completes its work, “I’d like to move as quickly as I can to the summer recess period.”
I know what he can do with his pomegranites. Ill supply the vaseline. Liberal shills love to spread and fall for the "poor poor pitiful me" tirade.
