Obama’s grand slam
The Washington Times ^ | August 1, 2011 | Emily Miller

President Obama wanted three things from the debt-ceiling fight: trillions in new borrowing authority, status quo on spending and no more drama before his shot at re-election. He got everything.

[Snip]

GOP leaders claim they cut the best deal possible in a divided government.

[Snip]

That’s an exaggeration. The bill would cut a minuscule $7 billion in 2012 and $3 billion total in 2013 - the only enforceable years. Meanwhile, the nation will continue to borrow at a rate of $100 billion a month.

The second tranche of “cuts” will be left up to a new bipartisan committee tasked with finding up to $1.5 trillion in savings. There are a bunch of gimmicks involved, but essentially we’re supposed to believe that even though Congress can’t cut a days’ worth of spending now, it’s somehow going to have the fortitude to reduce spending by far greater amounts down the road.

It’s likely to be the opposite, as Mr. Obama is already eyeing this “super committee” to fast-track tax hikes, saying on Sunday night, “I’ll continue to make a detailed case to these lawmakers about why I believe a balanced approach is necessary to finish the job.”

Worst of all for conservatives is that there will be no Balanced Budget Amendment. The deal sets a token vote in the fall and a trigger if the joint committee fails to complete its work. Without the leverage of the debt ceiling, it’s simply not going to get enough Democratic votes.

[Snip]

In November, the American people sent Tea Party conservatives to Washington to bring spending under control. These freshmen were beaten down by their leaders, who were outplayed by the president. Mr. Obama won the debt-ceiling game, and Republicans lost the season.

For the love of God... this is a nightmare that never ends.

It's like Inception, but worse.

The trojan horse scenario has been cast:
The two areas where automatic cuts will be made are the Pentagon, and Medicare under the unconstitutional "super congress". Here is the problem:
Automatic cuts in the Pentagon have no way to make up for the shortfall.
In Medicare, the "cuts" will be offset by paying providers at a lower rate, or shifting programs to users of what is left of insurance companies (case in point the mandated "women's reproductive health" crap that we are all now paying since all these services are now deemed "free" and paid for by insurance providers).

How do we defend the country under these restrictions?

There is only one upside here. The economy is starting to double-dip, meaning the debt ceiling increase may not carry through January ‘13 like they hoped. More likely it could hit sometime next fall.

If that’s the case it will be game on.

For whatever it's worth, here is how the Toe Sucker sees it, which is, strategically, pretty good for our side considering that we only controlled 1/3 of the Government.

The main point on the video is at 1:55 where Morris says that the image of Obama being a failed leader during the debate has "put a nail in the coffin of his reelection".

Just the opposite. She’s calling out those who deserve blame for this monstrosity.

We just need 42 more TEA Party senators and 150 more TEA Party congressmen.

And the 3 Dems on the commission are guaranteed new taxes or huge defense cuts no matter who the 3 Republicans are.

Best deal my ass. This is worse than just giving Obama the $2.4 trillion.

F*k You Boehner & McConnel!!!!

The GOP “leadership” just torpedoed the tea party (or thinks they did).

We have not yet begun to fight!!

Vote the corrupt, big spending, big borrowing, big taxing, big government, business as usual bastards OUT!!

Rebellion is brewing!!

Even though I’m fighting mad with blood in my eyes, I can still see 2012 from my house!!

Go, tea party!!

Because republicans have WAY-Y-Y-Y too many dinosaur old farts that only want to go along to get along and ride the Washington money cart on out...

As Mark Levin has pointed out, Chuck Schumer- basically by himself- was able to block one Bush judicial nominee after another. As much of a jerk Schumer is, he got the job done for his side... and never had to make lame excuses about being the minority party at the time.

That 1/2 of 1/3 had an absolute veto and the default on its side.

It could have offered half the money in monthly installments, repeal ObamaCare, make the Bush tax cuts permanent, said take it or leave it to Obama and the Senate and gone home until the 40% shutdown forced them to take it.

No guts, no glory.

In the old days Republicans and Democrats were both patriotic Americans, working for the good of our wonderful country, Now both parties have been deliberately splintered, and the Socialist-Fascist-Communist-Mormon-Islam element has gained power over our damaged two party system. It has taken them nearly 100 years to defeat us, openly and predictably. A complacent people have carelessly permitted this to happen! You will no longer find many many complacent people. They have turned from God and without God there can be no America as it was! So those of us who have many years behind us have lived in the unequaled best of times, and without our Gracious Creator we must endure the worst of times.

Excellent point. With or w’out a double dip, there is no way Obama can stretch 2.4 trillion to last till the next election. He spends like 100 billion dollar bills grow on trees and if he doesn’t squander them fast enough they’ll wilt. He WILL blow through this massive raise. His spendaholism harms us all but irreparably, but at least voters will get a good look at it before Nov. 12.
