The White House dispatched Vice President Joe Biden to the Capitol to lobby recalcitrant Democrats in both houses.

"They expressed all their frustration," he conceded after a session with lawmakers of his party in the House.

He said the deal "has one overwhelming redeeming feature" — postponing the next debt limit battle until 2013 and putting the current fight behind. "We have to get this out of the way to get to the issue of growing the economy," he said.

On the defensive? This will be propagandized as a Zero win. More democrat economy growing on the way...

I know what I'm talking about.

Everything will be called an Obama win by the media.

The BBA vote, though, is the key.

And we have no one to blame but ourselves. There are millions of us (working, taxpaying Americans) and between 500-600 elected officials that have almost completely destroyed our country. They are so outnumbered it shows how incredibly weak and pathetic we are. There is no democrat or republican anymore. It is the government vs us. Why are we letting a handful of people rob from us and our children? Why are we letting a few destroy our country?

I am going to go out on a thread and say that I believe that Boehner and/or his family’s life was threatened if he blocked this vote.

Remember... Politics...Chicago style.

Thank you for posting that. I only want us to get this debt under control and the economy humming again, with the USA as the SUPERPOWER once again.

I don’t care who leads our cause, so long as they understand that it can’t happen immediately.

Give me a break. No one forced Boehner to take the job. He wanted it.
And he only got it because of the Tea Party. And the only thing the Tea Party asked was to STOP the spending. He not only didn't stop it, he increased it.
So don't ask us to feel sorry for him. If this job is too much for him, he can always quit.

Stop shooting your own side!

Our side moved to the left and that becomes enemy territory. There's no good reason why the Republicans couldn't have held the line "til the clock ran out". The demorats and Obama play the fear cards very well...they know they can out that fear in the people and the Republicans....and they do.

The problem is the Republicans put their tails between their legs and surrender just when the victory is close at hand....even when they fully know they have the support of the American people...they yield every time.

People have a right to be very angry with them...and yes take that anger out on our side...they ask for it by their behavior and deceit.

“However, after today, I decided there is no hope. There is no one fighting for America anymore. I am convinced that it will get much worse very soon.”

Yes, I agree. We won at the ballot box. Our leaders fold when we need them to be strong. I remember the left forcing the Obama Care down our gullets. America is soon to be gone as I once knew it.

You may not be too far from the truth....hard statement to swallow but I put nothing at all above this thugocracy to do when push comes to shove. Politics isnn’t just nasty...it’s outright dangerous with this administration at the helm.

He’s a hypocrite and his word means nothing. I used to think he was genuine, but he’s nothing more than a two bit liar. He lacks integrity and isn’t suited nor does he deserve his position. He owes the public an apology over this.

House Won't Provide 72 Hours to Review Budget Control Act (Heritage recalls Boehner's pledge)

Actually, it makes sense - the details of the deal were fluid till the end and there is a deadline for raising the ceiling... It also gives very little time for the [Democrat-controlled] Senate to meddle with the agreement (however junky it is currently) - pretty much for the Senate to take it or leave it and take the blame.

What did we know?

1. The would be a "last-minute/eleventh hour" deal
2. Neither side would get everything it wanted (it's called a "compromiise")
3. Neither side's "extremists" will be happy with any "compromise" (that's why it's called a "compromiise")
4. Both sides will say they delivered on their "promises" (it's called "politics")
5. Both sides will claim victory and promise more of the same in the future (that's why it's called "politics")

When did we know it?

From the beginning, all the rest was "drama"...

They just had to come up with a quick way to spend more. Be grateful. They just saved the world.

Plus gave zero an early birthday present.

Compromise? Exactly what did we get from the Democrats in this “compromise” as you call it?

You seem to not have a clue as to how Congress runs. What part of we don’t have the votes to get everything we want right now do you not understand? Therefore you have to go with the most you can now, and await the 2012 elections to finish off Obama and hopefully the Dems in the Senate to get the rest. It’s the art of doing what is possible, unless, of course, you want a dictatorship of the minority. We don’t have the Senate, and we don’t have the White House, and we don’t have the votes. Being realistic doesn’t seem to be part of your repertoire.

I guess they had to pass the bill to find out what was in it?

No different than under Stretch.

What exactly is the betrayal?

Most of the GOP House members won in 2010 on promises to cut spending and get the deficit under control. In today's betrayal, a majority of GOP House members voted for a massive increase in the national debt with no actual spending cuts. And what's worse, they gave the Democrats a deal that will delay the next showdown until after the 2012 election. That is a total betrayal of the voters who elected them.
