You do have more faith in what the RINOs and Dems are going to do than I.

"Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of this deal is the “Super Congress” provision. This is nothing more than a way to disenfranchise the majority of Congress by denying them the chance for meaningful participation in the crucial areas of entitlement and tax reform. It cedes power to draft legislation to a special commission, hand-picked by the House and Senate leadership. The legislation produced by this commission will be fast-tracked, and Members will not have the opportunity to offer amendments. Approval of the recommendations of the “Super Congress” is tied to yet another debt ceiling increase. This guarantees that Members will face tremendous pressure to vote for whatever comes out of this commission— even if it includes tax increases. This provision is an excellent way to keep spending decisions out of the reach of members who are not on board with the leadership's agenda." Ron Paul today.

First, very little Ron Paul has to say impresses me much. Here he is making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Second, this is a long way from your suggestion that the House would just DEEM whatever the committee put forward into law. Every elected congressperson and senator will get a chance to vote yes or no on whatever this committee puts forth. They can't amend it or filibuster it. The House writes rules for bills all the time that can't be amended. I am quite sure it was done for this very piece of legislation that passed today.

That's correct....it's a very dangerous proposition...equally as much giving the 'leadership' of the House and Senate the 'power to appoint' them. This committee will now upstage the Consititution of the American people and the Representation we have in Congress.

They will have the authority to recommend raising taxes....and you can bet they will do just that...among other ill willed things for the American people. This is very nasty business coming down the road.
