That reminded me of NEP.
Lenin's New Economic Plan (NEP).
NEP allowed a large degree of free markets. It worked. The Nepmen quickly became a big part of the economy. Just as Lenin knew it would and it saved the Revolution by building the economy and prevented another revolution. That was the Plan.
The capitalists from outside (the "useful idiots") and the capitalists from inside (the Nepmen) were terminated by Party ideologues way too soon. Free markets scared them and Lenin was gone.
Why talk about NEP? Why is it so important?
Chi-com Deng Xiaoping designed a version of NEP for Red China. He even quizzed Al Gore's family master Armand Hammer who was in Russia at the time of NEP.
The Chi-Coms haven't reached the point where the useful idiots (from outside) and the domestic "nepmen" can be terminated.. in fact the Soviet commies screwed up. They should have personally garnered the new wealth AND ruled as Communists like the Chi_Coms are doing.
One day the Chi-Coms will take the useful idiots' property and the "American" useful idiots will go crying to Congress for their TARP.
