“It is criminal what the GOP is stuffing in under the cover of the debt ceiling. (Yes, we already know that the Dems are no good.)
Wed have been far better off if theyd simply given Obama a clean bill on the ceiling, but they had their own nefarious agenda that theyre now pretending they just had to go along with to keep the country from defaulting.
Its a shame how many tea party congressmen have already been snookered and co-opted as well.”
Couldn’t agree more. No deal and a clean debt ceiling increase (though far from perfect) would have been a lot better than this crap.
What sucks is that these GOP congressmen that WE put into office to restrain spending and stop Obamacare have done nothing on either front in this bill or any other. Repealing Obamacare should have at least been on the table as a negotiating chip-and it should have been trumpeted by every congressman who went on tv and radio. Their silence on this issue is deafening and disheartening.
Further, they seem to be fine allowing the supposed $800 billion “1 time” stimulus of 2009 to become part of the permanent baseline for future budgets. There is no spending cut in this legislation, only a small reduction (if it ever materializes at all) in the projected rate of growth in spending. What ever happened to Boner’s campaign promise to roll back spending to 2008 levels? And at the time, he said that would be just the beginning.
There was no attempt to do any of this. The only thing leadership did was pay lip service to supporting “cut, cap and balance”, but then after they passed it out of the House, they did nothing to fight for it. This could have been the time when we had some real leverage to make ACTUAL cuts in the budget and move toward a balanced budget amendment.
And if they wouldn’t go along, we could have simply refused to raise the debt ceiling. There would have been no default. Our government takes in roughly $200 billion revenue every month and spends roughly $300 billion. It would have only cost $20 billion a month to pay the interest on our debt. From there, we would simply have to prioritize. This is pretty simple math that every household understands. But instead of educating the public to this fact, Boner and the boys went along with the false narrative that it would be “Armaggedon” if we failed to act by August 2.
So, not only is this an opportunity lost, it shows that the GOP leadership is unwilling to do what we sent them there to do-fight to repeal Obamacare and take SERIOUS steps to get spending under control. This deal does neither and I. If they didn’t fight for it here, when will they?
I really don’t know where the conservative movement goes from here. I’ve always hated the idea of 3rd party, but it’s clear these guys in DC don’t get the fact that our republic is hanging by a thread. How many more chances do we give them to get their minds right?
It’s just too darn bad we can’t just deem the usurper impeached and removed, same goes for the house and senate..BOTH parties...

DING DING DING, you hit the target with that one, give the man a cigar
I was just thinking that earlier
I agree with your inclination.
However, if you insist on using maximum point font, could you at least spell ceiling correctly?
