I don't see the collapse of the federal government as necessarily a catastrophe, because we all have local or country police to maintain general order, and we live in states that could probably spend the people's money better than the federal government does.

If the feds collapse, the 10th Amendment wins.

All it would take is a courageous governor to come out with an official statement that accuses the federal government of being in contempt of the 9th and 10th amendments to the Constitution, and refuse to acknowledge the jurisdiction of any federal official (they can even round them up and demand that they either join the state or leave). If the Feds threaten to withhold government checks (i.e. Social Security, Military pensions, transportation, law enforcement, etc.) the governor will eliminate all payments to the federal government from residents, businesses, and corporations in that state, and have them redirected to the treasury of the state instead. A system for payment of pensions will be set up from the state treasury, and other formerly federal payments (military, transportation, law and border enforcement, etc.) will be redirected to new state agencies which will be responsible for those jobs. All public welfare cases in that state will be reevaluated, and welfare will be only for the truly destitute who have no alternatives (family, sperm donor, church, poor house, etc.). Since they were not responsible for the crazy federal debt, they will have no debt service payments in their budget, which, of course would have to be balanced, without tax increases, every year. Existing retirees from other states will not be allowed to relocate to this state unless they have family who will be responsible for them. All other persons relocating to this state will also need to be self supporting. I’m sure that they will have an immediate influx of patriots who will be passing those fleeing welfare kings and queens who are seeking greener pastures in a wealth redistribution state.

If the country DOES split, we need to try to ensure that it splits as close as possible along county lines and not state lines. There are too many states like Vermont and Maryland which are basically perfectly normal red states other than for one or two counties and it’s those one or two counties where all the vote manufacturing takes place.
