Brown served his purpose by embarrassing the Democrats in the 2010 special election. He’ll serve his purpose by being defeated in 2012. My tea party friend in Mass said he’ll vote for the Democrat just to get Brown out of the GOP caucus. The GOP is not a big enough tent for the likes of Brown, not even in that state.

5:45pm | Lieberman concerned by defense cuts in an emailed statement.
Senator Lieberman has indicated that our debt crisis is so severe that all parts of the federal government have to cut spending, and that includes Defense. But, he also strongly believes that protecting the security of the American people is the first responsibility of American government, and that means that any cuts to defense must be fair, limited, and mindful of the fact that we live in a very dangerous world. For these reasons, Senator Lieberman is very concerned about rumors that the debt agreement now being negotiated will disproportionately cut defense spending and result in unacceptably high risk to our national security.

Reuters: House Democratic leader Pelosi says House Democrats will meet on Monday to determine how to proceed in debt deal
Pelosi: “We all may not to support it, or none of us may be able to support it.”
Pelosi said Congress has determined the country won’t default, that Social Security checks will go out, military get paid, and all obligations honored.
Pelosi: “I haven’t seen the final product and I’ll have a discussion with my caucus as to how this comes down.”
Pelosi: “This bill has long ramifications, 9, 10 -years, we need to take a look and see if we can support it.”
6:14pm | House GOP conference call still has not taken place.
House Republicans still have not heard from Speaker of the House John Boehner, who pledged to confer with them before he agrees to any deal to raise the debt limit.
6:08pm | Reuters: Senate debt deal vote “highly unlikely” before Monday according to senior congressional aide.
