he Reuters/Ipsos poll of 600 adults, including 512 registered voters, had a margin of error of 4 percentage points for all respondents and 4.3 percentage points for registered voters. It was conducted overnight on Monday.

Junk poll. Too small a sample, did not poll likely voters but merely anyone who answered the phone over a single night.

Basically if it is a News Media poll, you can tune it out. They conduct their polls in a way to get the result they want. If Rasmussen or Gallup come out and show the same thing then you might worry.

Food for thought, IPSO had it "President John Kerry" in 2004. They are a DNC directed polling out fit. You can pretty much ignore anything they put out.

You seem to forget Nancy had the whole Congress, we don’t.

Back to check in. Bill Whittle did a thing about this on his site. You can find it on YouTube, I think.

Our deficit (amount we have charged) is so great that if you confiscate all of the wealth and property of all of Hollywood, professional sports players, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, etc. you would only solve the deficit for one year.

Then everything would be gone, and they would have to come for the middle class next.

These people do not understand numbers. I heard Dave Ramsey explain it this way:

“Suppose I have a client who owes $300,000 in credit card debt. He has a salary of $50,000. And he wants to spend $90,000 every year. That is the same proportion as the government debt, income, and deficit.”

With 54 million on SS, 47 million on Medicare, 60 million on Medicaid, and 44 million on food stamps, there is a huge constituency to keep the gravy train going.

Going Galt.

True, but the best way to do it is the Mack penny plan.

I agree with your take on Boehner. It’s all he knows.
He is over his head IMHO. He needs to be replaced in 2013 when we take over. He will probably be ready to go by then anyway.

IMO, it would be better if the federal government disbanded a few agencies that lie outside of enumerated powers, and sharply curtailed all the "from the states, back to the sates" transfer payments. But I do agree that asking for 1% reductions is a relatively easy sell to almost everybody who votes.

I agree. 10% from everything, including Social Security, welfare, food stamps, military, everything. Even Big Bird!

People who are on fixed income with no resources should be helped by church food banks and donations. Doctors could maybe donate some services.

If we ALL take a cut, then maybe people will understand how this is serious.

Also, most importantly, it will stop this “Why is MY check cut when so-and-so’s check isn’t? Unfair!”

Just roll everything back 10%. And for contracts that are locked in, declare a national fiscal emergency and tell tem “too bad, you get cut, too.”

You are correct Cboldt but now you are talking 2013 when we run the show. There are several departments that need to go. Energy, Education, EPA, a fair list.

Conservatives really need to stop listening to the junk media.

&&&&

I remember with pain the continual drumbeat of how awful was the Bush economy. Every newscast used a statistic that could be portrayed as Worse than the previous statistic. They especially loved to quote the “household survey of consumer confidence.” The confidence number was portrayed a dreadful when it was in the high nineties — and should have been more than a hundred, according to the gurus! I don’t know how they rationalized that, but broadcast the lie of a failing economy when we had an era of full employment, they did every half hour.

Now the same consumer survey, which purports to measure all workers, not just employees, is down below 50%. Do the enemymedia ever mention this number? Not bloody likely!

10% is exactly the number the ratings agencies are looking for, 370 billion is what 10% yields they want 400 but I'm sure they would settle.

What they will get is 4%. That's a sure downgrade to AA status for us.

“This is nuts.”

A year from now, we will see The 0s negatives in the low-mid 60s and there will be light at the end of the toilet paper tube.

Happy happy joy joy. Then we can get a Special Counsel to investigate 0 for theft, fraud and other crimes. Mebbe even buggery and crimes against nature.

BRAVO, AB! I couldn’t have said it better. BTW, I don’t think you’re advocating the RINO side. I think it’s the pragmatic, realistic side, with open eyes focused on the ultimate prize - to get &^*#@! BHO O-U-T. Like you, I believe we’re right on track to accomplishing that now.

(And don’t forget those state lawsuits on Obamacare that will hit the SCOTUS well before next November - it’s so clearly unconstitutional that a ruling otherwise would be a blatant travesty in the public’s eyes.)

I'm not so sure the 2012 will represent the turnaround point, but it will be nice to tuen out a number of establishment hacks, and, if we are fortunate, have a president with a vision of small federal government.

I'm going to do my part to remove Snowe.

There is a new thread on here claiming that the deal is for 2.4 trillion in two parts. We trade 1.2 trillion increase now for supposed increases down the roadin ten yeras where only the first year counts. I want to see the final stuff. I’m tired of all these what ifs. None of it sounds very good to me.

I think Boehner has done a good job. I would be very sad to see him replaced...by who? Paul Ryan? He’s going to be busy with other things such as the budget. Allen West? Maybe, but not sure he knows all the ins and outs of the House.

I really think you are selling Boehner short. It’s easy to say he’s “over his head” but he is dealing with dishonest, ruthless people who will not care if this country is destroyed. He does, which is the difference.

Plus, we don’t know what threats Obama made (and I am sure he did make threats, since we already saw his efforts to not pay Social Security and the military if he doesn’t get his way). For all we know Boehner’s family has been threatened.

There are really bad people involved in this financial mess, and some of them probably have ties with gangsters or foreign powers. This is NOT just a bookkeeping argument.

Boehner has done well, I think. Imagine if Gingrich and his need to be liked by the media had been in charge.

Welcome back, Phsstpok! We miss you very much. How are your eyes?

I have this suspicion that this issue is what will force Sarah’s hand. I’m already waiting anxiously for her labor day keynote at the Tea Party event in Iowa. She’ll run against ALL of establishment Washington, Dems and, especially, RINOs.

I share your suspicion. This would be PERFECT timing!

The Senate session must have been short today. I went to view C-SPAN2 video, and was treated to a 6 year old "book review" video.

Whatever the ultimate legislation that passes Congress, it is the work of establishment politicians. The TEA Party force is weak, in Congress, right now; it's not realistic to expect it to "win."

So, where did you think this new proposal will surface? The House or the Senate?
