why is no tax increase a big deal? there was never going to be a tax increase. if Obama and the dems didn’t raise taxes in 09-10 they weren’t going to raise them now. so it’s not exactly a win to prevent something tah was never going to happen in the first place.
I think the GOP could have gotten much more. If they had just held firm through tomorrow they could have gotten far more.
It is a big deal because the Senate was holding up this bill over taxes. 0bama just threw Reid under the bus.

Good point. When has a tax increase EVER been attached to any previous debt ceiling increases? Never. So why should no tax increase on this supposed agreement be considered some sort of victory for our side or America?
No tax increase is a big deal because it was a trap. If the republicans fell for the “balanced approach” and “shared sacrifice” b.s. the base would have stayed home in 2012. Further, all the tea party voters would turn on the congressmen they got elected.
The rinos are dumb enough to have fallen for it. The tea party cabal saved the establishment’s rear end by holding the line on this.
