if an auto maker could make a car that will get that kind of gas mileage, they would have done it.

From A Big Welcome to EPA Motors

..............."there are only two cars on the road today that get more than 54.5 mpg — the all-electric Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Volt plug-in. So far this year, and despite a hefty $7,500 federal tax credit, sales of both cars have totaled just 7,000."..............

Welcome to obama's worldview of what's good for us.

” the all-electric Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Volt plug-in. “

Anyone that would pay one cent for one of those piles of crap is a total idiot!

Be aware that the Volt does not get that mileage. The EPA has derived a bogus method to establis MPGe...e for ‘equivalent’. The Volt gets a little better than 30 in gas mode, and I have calculated a ‘carbon footprint’ equal to 24 mpg. The stickers say something higher, but it is completely bogus.

At the price of those cars, many peole can’t afford one.
Don’t even think that people living just above minimum wage could afford one. Just wait for section 8 electric car ownership.
