People liked him because of his war record and his tough Conservative talk. There was no reason not to see this guys as one of the best new guy in the House, he was already getting Presidential support for his Conservative talk, and many even forgave him for his support of the first crap bill while not doing the same for the others who voted the same way(Mark Levin for example), because they thought so highly of him.
But the fact is he voted wrong when it came to this bill and it just so happened to be the most important Conservative test he has had. Talk means nothing if it’s not backed up with actions. I’m thinking he’s like all the other politicians who go on talk radio and other Conservative media outlets and act like the perfect Conservative politician, which unfortunately works in deceiving true Conservatives, and then go back to acting like the true RINO’s they are.

West talked like a great Conservative and voted completely the opposite of what people expected based on his own words. If he keeps this crap up then he should be challenged in a primary to let everyone who owe their victory to the Tea Party know that it won’t do the same unless you consistently vote like a true nation saving Conservative or we will work against you. Everyone who got elected based on Conservative talk that doesn’t match their voting records the next time around should be targeted even if they were who we supported last time.

I am already pessimistic that even true Conservative control over all three branches of government, filled with Conservatives who care more about saving the nation at all cost than staying in power would be able to make the drastic and significant changes that are needed without losing power, and then having most of the things they did reversed soon after.

But it’s the only option with any chance for real change which is why I am willing to take chances on losing Republican seats if the person isn’t being Conservative enough, or tough enough to get serious things done. A lot of Republicans are only a step behind liberals when it comes to destroying the county. Putting off all these issues are why they are so out of control it might literally be impossible to fix them. Spineless politicians of the past keep handing it off because they didn’t want to address the hard issues. It’s time to get it done or discover that it’s too late to be done.

But getting back to West, if he starts voting Conservative consistently from now on I will be fine supporting him even though his stupid remarks have hurt his image with me, it’s the way he votes that counts. We will see which way he goes from here, but it’s not surprising there are some who aren’t what they said they were in the election. West is just a little more disappointing to me after hearing some of his opinions in the past. I just think it would be a big mistake not to challenge these people if they don’t start consistently voting Conservative. I’m not afraid of losing a Republican seat if that’s what happens trying to defeat someone who isn’t the kind of Conservative that we need to save our nation. No more spineless Conservatives or RINO’s who just aren’t on the same side.

I hope West starts doing the right thing from now on so it’s not necessary for a primary challenge, but this one vote could eclipse his others if they aren’t as significant as this one was.

And using West great combat service as a reason to support him regardless of how he votes, as some have, is just stupid. His service was great and should be respected, but as a member of the House it’s his vote alone that should decide whether he stays in power or not. I respect his military service, but will only support him and donate to his campaign based on his voting record, and I won’t listen to any excuses or fall for the renewed Conservatism all the disappointing ones will show again in the campaign. Lets just hope West starts voting more Conservative from now on, and is the Conservative we all thought he was.

People need to stop defending West for his bad vote in the House, and insulting comments to the people who got him elected by using his exceptional military record. Almost everyone here respects what he did in the military, but it has no relevance to his bad vote and comments. They are two separate issues, and it's ridiculous to justify every bad vote or insults to his former supporters because of his military career. I can take the insults, but I will actively work against him next time around if he doesn't start voting Conservative.

If he doesn't start voting Conservative he should be opposed in a primary to send a message to those who are elected due to Tea Party support that we will work against them if they don't work for the significant changes we need to save the country. We are going to make some mistakes when it comes to helping these guys get elected and we shouldn't just forget about it the next time around. I hope that's not necessary, but if West doesn't change and still gets Tea Party support it will show a major flaw in the movement. The guys elected with Tea Party support should vote for the issues supported by the Tea Party or be challenged in primaries. If that doesn't happen the Tea Party will just be used to get elected by politicians who then forget their Conservatism until the next election gets close.

Congressman Allen West’s Update:

Greetings to our constituents, fellow Floridians, and all Americans, it is time again for my weekly update report to you. These have been some critical weeks for the fiscal future of our America and I continue to pray for the wisdom and discernment of Solomon.

Our National debt is now 70% of our GDP, and we know that our past two quarters America has had 0.5% and 1.3% GDP growth. That is simply why we can no longer raise our debt ceiling without any consideration of curtailing government spending.

Federal government spending is currently 24.4% of our GDP which is why we must “cap” federal government spending and get it aligned with incoming revenues, at approximately 18-20%. It is about making the federal government accountable, implementing spending controls, and enforcing spending discipline.

I keep hearing the President talk about a “balanced approach” when what we need is a balanced budget. There can be no long term resolution to this issue of federal government debt unless we have a balanced budget amendment. Washington has a spending problem and that is what greatly affects our middle class and the future for our children and grandchildren.

Let us show we are responsible to the American people, let’s send them a balanced budget amendment which would promote certainty and peace of mind.

In less than three years, President Obama and his failed economic policies have resulted in nearly $4 trillion of new debt. That is not a balanced approach… .we need a realistic approach.

This is about America and this is about economic freedom. No one in Congress is holding the American people hostage. Those individuals who in the years since 2007 added close to $6 trillion in new debt are the ones holding the future of our country hostage.

Washington has enough money to meet America’s needs. It is time to cut spending, not raise taxes.

I keep hearing my Democrat colleagues speak of “compromise,” This hypocrisy is laughable. Where was the compromise from Democrats with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), the nearly $1 trillion stimulus bill, or Cap and Trade?

Enough with the rhetorical demagoguery from liberal progressives about oil subsidies (I believe we need to cut the corporate/business tax rate to 20% from 35% and eliminate subsidies and loopholes), on taxing the rich and “shared sacrifice” (the top 1% of taxpayers pay 34% taxes, top 5% taxpayers pay 57% of taxes, top 25% taxpayers pay 86% of federal taxes… move to a flat personal income tax of 13-15% and eliminate loopholes), and no more about corporate jets (this is only about a $300 million in savings per year, and the Democrats fail to remember, it was President Obama who added this tax loophole into his stimulus bill).

Revenues come from tax code reform, not tax increases!

It is time for common sense, real solutions, because the definition of insanity is to continue to do the same thing and expect different results.

Steadfast and Loyal,

Allen

Congressman Allen West did not apologize to DWS. If someone thinks he did, they need to provide the audio. Obviously if Congressman West told a reporter that he apologized to DWS then the reporter would have the audio. Plus the fact that it would be all over the news!

Others are ready to trash Congressman West for his vote in support of the bill. As Allen said, it is not a perfect bill but is a good step in the right direction. I am one Floridian who trusts Allen West and his judgment.

Many do not realize that the Republicans ONLY have control of the House, and compromise must be accomplished in order to get anything done. The Republicans did what they could and certainly wanted more. As Allen West said, the bill was not perfect but a step in the right direction.

I hope folks who are trashing all the Republicans realize that is just exactly what the Democrats would love to see!
