Don’t believe a word of it. Obama really just wants to avoid having to go through another battle before Election Day. His rejection of the Boehner Plan has nothing to do with the markets or the economy. It is purely political.
He’s desperate to avoid having to face this issue again. He’s lost ten points in job approval over the battle so far and he wants to get out of town before he loses more.
So the Republican message to Harry Reid is simple: If you want more debt authority so that it takes us to the end of the year, come up with more cuts. Not phony cuts in military spending but real cuts scored by the Congressional Budget Office.
The Boehner Plan gives Republicans a good place to stand. If a government shutdown eventuates because Reid won’t put up extra cuts or because Obama wants to punt this issue until after the election, then they will incur massive blame from the voters.
And remember one thing: Obama has no choice. He can’t let default take place for two reasons: 1) It would make him look weak and hurt his presidency dramatically; and 2) It would be evident that the shutdown is not the disaster he has been predicting and he would be caught crying “wolf.”
Republicans should sit back, after passing the Boehner Plan and make the Democrats and the president come to them. Obama is stuck and Republicans should take advantage of his lack of maneuverability. They already have the key concession: Reid agreeing to a cuts-only approach. With that concession in their pockets, they should play a waiting game that Obama cannot match.
Always remember that no matter how much the public may not like intransigence by House Republicans, it is Obama who is suffering by this issue. If Obama and Boehner turn off the public by their fencing and maneuvering, so be it. Obama is running for president and Boehner is not. Boehner can afford to take the hit. Obama can’t.
By the time Reid gets done with Boner’s bill if it passes, there will be spending increases not cuts, a 3T debt ceiling increase and higher taxes, and Boner will talk himself into thinking that’s the best we can get.
I hope Morris is right. If he is, it’s a new day. Fiscal failure is in full view in Europe if Americans are concerned enough to take a look. Anyone who wants us on the PIIGS express is a fool. Are enough Americans watching? Who knows?

If the house doesn’t pass anything then the rinos will get with the dems and pass Reid’s plan. If the house DOES pass something ditto.
I hate the Rockefeller republican party. They’ve been in power way too long. I say let them die and start a new party. And don’t give me “Let’s change the party from witin” crap. We tried that and it ain’t workin’.

Pretty much correct. The Boehner Bill is just the shell casing Reid, Obama and McConnell will use to stuff full of all the things that will be no good for us, and when the newly stuffed Democrat friendly bill goes back to the House for a vote no more arms will have to be broken because practically all 165 Democrats in the House will vote for it. So that’s why Boehner is SO desperate to get the Conservatives in the House to cave right now. He’s been in on this fix since the start and he knows he won’t need them when the “real” bill comes back from the Senate. He’ll shore up about 70 or so of his RINOS in the House to join with the Democrats and pass the Reid Bill, which was the plan all along. Cut, Cap and Balance was nothing more than a bone thrown to the people who were told to get their asses in line.
Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, et.al. had zero intention of acting on or championing Cut Cap and Balance. They never believed in it, they never wanted it. Ask yourself this: if Boehner actually believed in CC&B, why was he in the White House continuing to negotiate BEFORE CC&B was even tabled by the Senate? This fool Speaker didn’t even bother with the pretense of waiting until CC&B was officially off the table before he continued his back room deals because to him, CC&B was dead all along.
The only difference between this country now and when Obama declares himself ruler and defacto leader of the social democrat party is when that happens everyone will be required to carry papers with them.
We can do that now, call it voter ID and never have to deal with Obama again.
But seriously he is getting a bit better, he predicted the Republican victory in 2010, months before anyone else did. But I still can't forget back when he was going on all the news channels saying their was Zero chance Hillary Clinton could be elected to the Senate from New York and more recently how the 2008 presidential election was going to be Hillary Clinton versus Condi Rice.

The problem with this is, as Rush pointed out yesterday, that Reid and the Dem controlled Senate will change Boehner's plan all together, pass it and ship it back to the House and Boehner still labeled as Boehner's bill. That puts the hot potato back in Boehner's lap to pass it with all of Reid's changes or be labeled as the one who let it fail and caused the "default".
He needs the 3 Trillion to help buy this
Why on earth didn’t the House sit back and fold their arms after they passed CC&B ???? They did their job - they passed a bill the majority of the people agreed with.
That’s exactly what I’ve been afraid of since 2008.
Obongo wants it HIS way and through the 2012 elections. He’s already in the battle of his life. I say one term for sure, nobody could be stupid enough to vote for that moron twice.

If we “hobble through” until 2013 - the collapse will have already started - but it will be devastating - because of the additional debt of another 2 trillion.
It is INSANE for Republicans to do ANYTHING but force Democrats to make choices.
If they ask Repubs what to not pay - tell them to shut down welfare and other wasted departments.
They won’t. They will make military mad, senior citizens mad, TONS of people mad - because the WHITE HOUSE will be NOT SENDING OUT CHECKS.
Repubs need to just screaming in the media about how we need to eliminate wasted departments and terminate hundreds of thousands of Federal Employees.
