If the Reps were smart they would do exactly that, i.e., a clean short term increase in the debt ceiling covering 6 to 8 months, take it or leave it. Let the Senate and Obama take the heat for not signing it. Obama wants to extend this thing past 2012. Why should we be giving him a $2.4 trillion limit increase on the current $14.3 trillion ceiling? When Obama took office, the debt was $10 trillion. So after four years we will have raised the ceiling to close to $17 trillion. Insane.
