Well, if you are young, at first blush you may think you have a point.
But I remember President Eisenhower doing just that. He did in fact send the National Guard in to escort black students into school.
So did Kennedy. (Can’t remember the situation now.)
Governor George Wallace stood in the doorway of the school, and the army arrested him. (Might not have been the army, might have been federal marshals, I’m old and can’t remember minute details any more.)
