I'm sure that mental health facilities and ERs deal with violent patients all the time. I don't think I've ever heard of serious injury or dealth inflicted on an out of control patient.

So how do unarmed health care workers manage to do what these police officers couldn't?

To tell the truth, it sounds to me like they, (the police officers on the call)totally lost their bearings.

Emotions took over.

I suspect that mental health facilities, would try to deescalate the situation.
