At least one U.S. military serviceman has been arrested for allegedly planning another attack on Ft. Hood, Fox News has learned exclusively.
According to an Army source, one AWOL soldier is in the custody of the Killeen Police Department near Ft. Hood. He was not captured on base. According to another source, two other U.S. soldiers were also arrested earlier today when they were found in possession of weapons and explosives.
Fox News has obtained the names of three possible suspects, but is currently withholding that information.

An AWOL Muslim American Army private arrested near Fort Hood, Texas, told investigators that he wanted to attack fellow soldiers outside Fort Hood, two law enforcement officials said Thursday....
Killeen police also said the suspect purchased uniforms with Fort Hood unit patches from a local military surplus store, Carter's office said.

After Abdo's arrest, police searched his hotel room and backpack and found six pounds of smokeless powder, Christmas lights and battery-operated clocks -- which were apparently intended to create a timing and triggering device of some type -- sugar, shrapnel, a pressure cooker, and shotgun shells that were in the process of being dismantled for raw explosives.

In the soldier's backpack, police also found "Islamic extremist literature," a .40-calliber pistol and a shopping list of components for a bomb, a law enforcement official said. .
I don’t know why we are even allowing muslims into our military. I know some convert after they join, but that seems like it should be a red flag if there ever was one.
A Muslim is not allowed to participate in an Islamicly unjust war. Any Muslim who knows his religion or maybe takes into account what his religion says can find out very clearly why he should not participate in the U.S. military.
Nasser Abdo, I suppose you think Al Qaeda and the Taliban are not making a unjust war against the US and the Western world? And Abdo, are just wars exclusively between Muslims killing Muslims? I'm sure you have no problem of wars between Muslims. So what is your real problem?
Yup, It sure looks like he was preparing to go Jihad Johnny.
So, tell me, just what WOULD his “conscience” object to? This excuse of a human being had child pornography and no problem with the killing of innocent civilians and their children who were in the wrong place at the wrong time. I've heard some crazy things in my 62 years, but this goes way beyond “selective judgment”. Conscientious Objection,” my ass.
His px just makes me want to puke. What a useless, lying, punk!
The article states this guy applied for conscientious objector status...Pretty strange behavior for a pacifist!/s;)
Profiling works! ME looks, ME name, uncommon request for an explosive - add it together and alert law enforcement.
Islam wants everyone who is not Muslim dead - including the idiotic PC libs. Hear that libbies? They’ll let you bleed your heart over their issues, take advantage of your stupidity then plunge their unholy knives into that heart and really make it bleed.
I think the theme of pedophilia and homosexuality are rampant in the muslim community.....I think its very accepted....that is why they are so cruel and inhuman....

In Jesus name.’

As this Palestinian said when he wanted Conscientious Objector status, he objected to having to fight fellow Muslims. He had no problems killing infidels. He should be tried for Treason, as he is a supporter of the Enemy
Guys, I'm anything **BUT** a supporter of Islam. However, the decision by FOX News to withhold the name of the suspect pending additional details being released is standard procedure, and almost certainly not a desire to cover up his Muslim-sounding name.
That doesn't even make sense. FOX News producers certainly knew that the name would come out in a very short time, and they released it once they could confirm the name from official sources and that he was actually accused of this terrorist-related stuff.
Note this item: 47 posted on Thursday, July 28, 2011 9:54:13 AM by TexasBeth: “A Fort Hood spokesperson said an arrest was made yesterday by KPD on a soldier thats not from here, but did not have additional details. He said national media is ‘reporting something we havent heard about.’”
Apparently even the Army (or at least the Fort Hood public affairs office) didn't know about this. I've certainly dealt with PAO people who didn't know about things because their bosses didn't brief them — keeping PAO in the dark is a **REALLY** bad idea, by the way — but I'm guessing this was being handled primarily by the Killeen Police Department and the Army authorities were just beginning to learn what was going on.
FOX got this as an “exclusive.” In other words, somebody probably leaked it through back channels — it's a pretty good guess that a conservative in law enforcement or who was otherwise familiar with this case wanted to make sure it didn't get covered up, called FOX, and knew that once FOX broke the story everything would blow sky high.
Let's just say that arresting a lowly PFC on a child pornography warrant ain't gonna make the national news. It is very common for law enforcement to hold somebody on an unrelated warrant to give them the time they need to “make their case” on some sort of more serious charge.
For FOX News or any other news organization to accuse a person of a crime without clear proof is virtually certain to result in losing a libel lawsuit. In a breaking news situation like this, nothing is lost by waiting a few minutes or a few hours to report the name once it is confirmed by law enforcement, court records, or (in this case) military authorities. The public gets warned that a terrorist attack on a military installation was being planned, and the effect of warning the public is that planning will be disrupted for any other attacks that might have been underway. At the same time, once this hit FOX News, every other national news organization was going to follow up on it, along with local media which typically has extensive local contacts who will “leak” things, so there was no way that the police or military authorities would be able to keep this quiet.
I'm not saying anybody local was actually trying to keep this quiet or cover things up, but whoever called FOX News definitely made sure no coverup was even possible.
Now on a different topic, kudos BIG TIME to the staff at Guns Galore who put two and two together to stop this guy. Little clues can yield big results. Somebody at Fort Hood ought to give that gun store and its staff a pretty big award — quick thinking very likely saved many lives.
I mean no disrespect to MEDDAC’s shooting skills, but shooting is not their primary mission, and unlike Major Hassan the psychiatrist, this new terrorist was infantry-trained, and I think there's a good chance that our Army did a good job of training him to shoot well. Unfortunately, it looks like the PFC had the wrong motives for acquiring shooting skills.
