President Barack Obama's conduct during the debate over the debt ceiling has divided the country and will inflict damage that will last well after the battle is over, former New York Stock Exchange director and Wall Street stalwart Ken Langone said.
While he believes a debt deal will get done and in fact favors a plan closer to what the Democrats are proposing, Langone told CNBC that Obama's behavior has been "unpresidential."
"He is dividing us as a nation," Langone said. "He's not bringing us together. He's willfully dividing us. He's petulant."
The co-founder of Home Depot [HD 35.625 -0.765 (-2.1%) ]sharply criticized the president for promoting class warfare through his repeated attacks against "fat cat" business executives and his targeting of tax loopholes.
In sum, the behavior is symptomatic of Obama's disrespect for the office he holds, Langone said.
"Ronald Reagan would never go into the Oval Office without his jacket onthat's how much he revered the presidency," he said. "This guy worked like hell to be president...Behave like a president. Let me look at you as a model to how we should behave. What does he say? Fat cats, jet airplanes. What is the purpose? Us versus them.
"The thing I fear the most about the future of America is...divide us, we all lose. This has got to stop."
Langone said people with his wealth should pay more taxes, but the debate shouldn't be framed as rich against poor.
"He is not acting presidential. He is behaving in a way designed in my opinion to divide us, to make us look at each other with skepticism, with suspicion. That is the end of America as we know it," he said. "The destruction he is inflicting by his behavior will carry on long after we settle the debt limit."
Not only is Obama un-presidential, he is non-presidential and....totally ineffective in all that he touches. At this critical moment in USA history, he has crawled into his useless shell and is providing not one iota of Presidential leadership. He needs to be forced to resign, along with VP, Joe Biden or impeached. The American people and voters, even though in their moment of insanity, elected this misfit, incompetent Obama, deserve better!!! Obama must go and the American people must be the ones to correct the problem they, themselves brought to reality!!!!
People need to call this guy up and challenge him to re-file and amend his last five returns taking the standard deduction. If he wants to pay higher taxes then he should.
When he said the wealthy should pay more ...he did not want taxes raised...he meant in terms of tax rates..
Class envy?
He says he wants to pay more taxes. Then if that’s what HE wants then that’s what HE should do. IMHO he is either an idiot or a hypocrite. Likely both.
The Original Liberal Version was authored by Jim Quinn (WPGB 104.7). It obviously needs updated, but same idea! :-)
The Ant and the Grasshopper
by Jim Quinn
The Original Version The ant busts his ass in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he’s a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.
The New Liberal Version
It starts out the same but when winter comes the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving. CBS, NBC, and ABC show up and show pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to film of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can it be, in a country of such wealth that this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Then a representative of the NAAGB (The National Association of Green Bugs) shows up on Night Line and charges the ant with “Green Bias” and makes the case that the grasshopper is the victim of 30 million years of greenism. Kermit the frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when he sings “It’s Not Easy Being Green.”
Bill and Hillary Clinton make a special guest appearance on the CBS evening news and tell a concerned Dan Rather That they will do everything they can for the grasshopper who has been denied the prosperity he deserves by those who benefited unfairly during the summer, or as Bill refers to it, the “Temperatures Of The 80’s”.
Finally the EEOC drafts the “Economic Equity and Anti-Greenism Act” RECTRO-ACTIVE to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and having nothing left to pay his Retro-Active taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he’s in....which just happens to be the ant’s old house.... crumbles around him since he doesn’t know how to maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow. And on the TV; which the grasshopper bought by selling most of the ant’s food, Bill Clinton is standing before a wildly applauding group of Democrats announcing that a new era of “Fairness” has dawned in America.
This from CNBC? Turn out the lights, the party’s over. And so it the honeymoon. About time.
The actual interview was very good. He was visibly upset.
I can picture him, perfectly at home and happy, instigating those LA riots yesterday, jumping up and down on the police cars and inciting others.
Bump.
Home Depot is a big contributor to gay and lesbian organizations. they help fund the G&L legal departments so these organizations can sue everybody and lobby in DC.
Home Depot’s shareholders -— 400,000 of them — recently asked Home Depot to ‘stay neutral in the culture wars’, becaude HD was setting up booths of fun tool toys for children at gay pride parades. Home Depot’s CEOs refused.
HD’s PR and HR departments are totally out of control.
That's one of the more concise explanations for limousine-liberalism that I've seen.
And the whole point of Cloward-Piven strategy is to defeat the protective "social net" strategy liberals created to constrain/appease/buy off the radicals' client-crowds.
This is all about a death-match between the limousine crowd and the Communists. The Communists don't even worry about us -- they just see us as meat for the destructive-labor camps.
They will learn to their cost -- their total, terminal cost -- just how wrong they are.
If the CEO personally refused his shareholders' request, then it isn't the middle-level and junior line management in HR who are out of control.
There has to be more to the situation. At Enron, it turned out that the No. 3 man, Michael Koppers, was homosexual; that's why Enron was an early promulgator of "gay-friendly" HR policies. (And he was also an enabler of Ken Lay's and Jeff Skillings' criminal behavior as well -- clue for the clueful.)
Koppers was protected by the Houston Chronicle until it came to their editors' attention that their writers had a story on him that showed him involving his boyfriend/livetogether squeeze in some shady self-dealing involving the "raptor" subsidiaries that became so infamous during the bankruptcy. That was one of the few times a newspaper has outed a power-gay.
And I can see him accidentally stopping one with his forehead, when those Korean shopkeepers come boiling out of their stores loaded for bear, to defend their property.
Saw a photo on the Net about a year ago, of the First Community Organizer at some photo-op with a shovel in his hand and a pair of steeltoes on his feet, dressed in Dickies for the occasion -- he never looked so "right", in all his life. He looked like he'd finally found his level, his niche.
We often saw Dubya and Ronnie in jeans and longsleeved shirts and heavy work-gloves some chilly morning, out busting brush and hauling away small trees -- but you always knew, just by looking at them, that they owned the place. Know whut I mean, Vern?
Very interesting, thanks.
America didn’t goofed. Dems pulled their guilt class warfare acts - and the press ‘fell for it’... and gave them the equivalent of nonstop free ads... Also, WE’RE part of America - and WE didn’t goof...
