This says it all

That’s how out of whack the baseline is: A $9.5 trillion cut. Remember the $9 trillion figure we used at the end of the program yesterday. That is the cumulative total of automatic baseline increases for the next ten years.

So we really are cutting nothing....the country is going broke...

If we get the senate and Sarah we might have a chance...she is the peoples president...The dems hate her and the Gop hates her..GAME ON

Don’t raise the debt ceiling. ever.

Force the government to survive on only the existing revenue stream.

THAT is how we get a balanced budget.

You think Enron was bad? The way Washington does things is criminal. We don't have enough jails to put everybody in.

Yes, we do. "We're All Socialists Criminals Now"

...Sometimes the law defends plunder and participates in it. Thus the beneficiaries are spared the shame, danger, and scruple which their acts would otherwise involve. Sometimes the law places the whole apparatus of judges, police, prisons, and gendarmes at the service of the plunderers, and treats the victim — when he defends himself — as a criminal.

But how is this legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime.

Then abolish this law without delay, for it is not only an evil itself, but also it is a fertile source for further evils because it invites reprisals. If such a law — which may be an isolated case — is not abolished immediately, it will spread, multiply, and develop into a system.

Do not listen to this sophistry by vested interests. The acceptance of these arguments will build legal plunder into a whole system. In fact, this has already occurred. The present-day delusion is an attempt to enrich everyone at the expense of everyone else; to make plunder universal under the pretense of organizing it.

The Law

The stimulus itself raised the baseline by a trillion dollars in one vote.

With the Bohener plan it’ll take 10 years to cut that one program.

This is fraud!

Every year they should count up all of their tax receipts and whatever they take in, that will be the budget. That way there will be no need for a CBO to score all of these fantasy budgets, you only spend what you have already collected. No projections, no estimates about what the economy will do the next ten years, no accounting gimmicks, you only spend what you already have.

Government isn't the only outfit doing this. I have a friend at GE who told me that a certain product line lost $100M in one year. I thought, wow, you're not doing very well, are you. But in actual fact, their sales TARGETS for the year were $500M and they only made $400M, so it went on the books as a loss of $100M. They actually went to press with a story that they'd lost money on that product line. Incredible.

The public needs to be better armed to read between the lines of public statements. This piece by Rush is good stuff. It underlines our feelings that the root system of budgeting and expenditures needs changing.
