Nero YouTubes while Rome burns! The White House, probably realizing the entire country is mega-financially-screwed anyway, just rickolled a Twitter critic who complained about the "entertainment value" of an Obama briefing. Retaliation? Watch this annoying video, you jerk!
You might think the official mouthpiece of the United States of America indulging in well-worn meme prankery is a little unbecoming of the office, but heythey're no strangers to love. Obama knows the rules, and so do I. A full tax hike's what he's thinking ofYou wouldn't get this from any other guy. He just wants to tell you how he's feeling. Gotta make you understand: don't annoy the White House while they're trying to save the global financial system. Next time, it'll be Goatse. [The White House via TNW]
WTF rickrolled?
What a bunch of spoiled brats. Best and the brightest and all that...
What an asshat.
wth
I seriously doubt Obama has any idea what Twitter is, much less the content his staff puts out.
The same for many other folks, candidates, potential candidates...
David Hasselhoff, for no particular reason...
Video doesn’t seem to work.
Leave it to the White House to jump on a trend that was over at least two years ago. They should have thrown up a “HONEY BADGER DON’T CARE” graphic.
A testament to the average maturity level in the White House.
Once you understand “Rick-Rolling”, forget it. It over. Everyone but the White House has moved to other net nonsense.
What is the purpose of comment #3 on this thread?
I had never heard the term before, but it’s obviously been around since the dawn of the Baraqqi Coalition:
On June 7, 2008, a number of political blogs, including Wonkette,[32] Andrew Sullivan,[33] and Balloon Juice,[34] posted an article claiming to show Michelle Obama going on a rant full of racist references to “Whitey”, but the video was actually a rickroll.
Um...? Some women just enjoy The Hoff.
They should have put up, “and here is Rachel Corrie with a pancake on her head”
My favorite rickroll was in the Macys Thanksgiving Day parade a few years ago. A float with singers and animated characters stopped in the middle of the parade, the happy cartoon music “scratched off” and Rick Astley walked out singing “Never Gonna give You Up”. It was hilarious. I’m sure most Americans looked at each and shook their heads.
OMG!!! YES!!
I have no idea.
