Good to see you too! Don't know where she is - I haven't seen her around lately.
Since I last posted - the hurricane dog has taken notice. So I went to Weather Underground and started looking at the comments on Dr. Jeff's blog. They are talking about lower sheer and a more southerly track than the models are showing now. So heads up my friend.

"Mighty brazen of you to schedule a family reunion during hurricane season. ;o) " Brazen may not be the correct word, ahem.

Well, having worked and lived here in the Houston area for 30 years now, there’s some truth in what you say, but I wouldn’t wish living in NOLA (post-Katrina, anyway) on anybody. Used to drive downtown for over 20 years until the company I work for moved to Ft. Bend county, where I live.

I dont see a lot of inland Texas rain from this system, but were still very early in the season.
Maybe not. But we need a dent in the positive feedback loop this interminable drought has brought us: no rain, no clouds, thus no cloud sunshade to diminish the evaporation of now trees and grass as the soil is beyond parched. Our trees are dying, for the second year now.
Any cloud, any shower is what we pray for.

Not many fires in downtown Conroe....but in the rest of Montgomery county over a thousand fire responses this summer already.
It’s still really, really dry here.

Hermine saved Central Texass bacon.
Without Hermine, we’d damned near be Anasazi. Just Gone. I never had the guts to even imagine where we’d be without her.
I’ve been holding my breath for a very long time.

"Davy Crockett was a Tennessean, after all. " Sam Houston had been the governor of Tenneessee and the first elected president of the country of Texas.

It had been that way here at the house. Only rained 3 times since last Aug until a couple of weeks ago.

Yes I know about Davy Crockett. On the back of my Tahoe I have a bumper sticker that reads: YOU CAN ALL GO TO HELL AND I WILL GO TO TEXAS Davy Crockett. A good friend of mine is a descended of his. Texans revere Davy Crockett.

That is so true.
I have lots family in your neck of the woods, so I follow the weather.
It’s been terrible.
God knows they need the rain.
I also have, as of last year, a VERY close family member living south east of Houston.
Praying for lots of rain and everyone’s safety.

Thank you for your prayers BTW. :)

Did you steal that off my deck??? Driving down the I-35 service road today I saw a watering truck sprinkling the grass on the easement. Hopeless task, it was about 104 and evaporating faster than the truck could wet it down. I was struck with the thought that one idiot tossing a cigarette out the window could torch the whole I-35 corridor from Hill to Bexar. We are in a world of hurt and I’m not too encouraged by the 30% chance of precipitation forecast for Friday.

When the hurricane dog barks, I listen. I’ll be watching the gulf.
