It was prosperous due to Steel. Steel is gone. Everyone black or white could get work back then.
With reference to your post 49 to my post, I don’t know whether you are simply adding to the info or bringing me up to speed. Of course, I knew what created its prosperity and what took that prosperity away. Heck, the famous Sloss Furnace was no more than two miles from where I grew up (to age 10).
I am also cognizant of what “sociological” factors destroyed the city’s reputation. And I was making an oblique reference to them in my post.
