Maybe I will never win this debate on here but as long as the GOP is offering up only $1 trillion in cuts over 10 years, this is not a DEM/GOP issue.
As Rand Paul said, the DEMS want to cut nothing and the GOP wants to cut next to nothing. I view the GOP position as the most disingenuous, leading people to believe the GOP is doing something about it when in fact it is not.
Nothing short of actually solving the problem will win me over. If Boehner proposes $1 trillion in cuts this fiscal year, I will be swayed to the GOP position. Short of that, it is nothing more than pandering and political grandstanding.
No thinking person should be swayed by charade. Nobody should be waving partisan pom poms until the this very serious problem is taken seriously.
Well the Democrats, IMO, intended NOT to pass a budget two years ago... and bring it to where we see it now. I believe they planned it this way without question. They wanted an open monetary field to use and abuse as they desired and they did just that as we know. Now it's after the fact.
So....This really isn't about the budget....it is about who is going to win this pre-election political game...the budget is simply the ball they continue to dribble back and forth across the court. Scores and points as they do while the cheering sections route for their side or complain about the players.
Problem is 'timer' is running down fast ....so it will now depend on who has the ball when the timer goes off. Not to mention refererr Obama standing on the sidelines ready to make the call with a strike of his pen....and the game changes to the "blame game" on why there was no winner.
Just as in the wars fought now across the oceans....it isn't even about winning anymore....it's containing and making as many consessions as possible in order to save face for both side. Though are troops would have a win for sure!
Absolutely right. People should remember - if we take 1 trillion off of this year, we will still be running a .5-1 trillion dollar deficit in FY2011. And it's all stuff that wasn't in the budget before up come Obama, mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm.
