I think a lot of us were on to the “heat index” crap pretty quickly. They can’t prove global warming, so they concentrate on the “heat index” to scare the gullible people.

Montana gets weather that qualifies for either of those vaunted numbers, but every weather forecaster in the state knows that the first time he/she uses 'em as part of the report is the last time any functional member of the population will bother listening. If I've got weather coming that's going to affect me and my livestock, I want the straight numbers, no BS and no time wasted giving me the news.
If there's a blizzard coming around here, I'm sure not going to sit in the kitchen watching an ode to Gaia or some invented number from a PhD's thesis. A guy could get frozen into the ground six feet from his back door playing those silly games.
