"Why isn't Obama doing anything to bring US jobs back?" It has become popular on the left to hate America. (And, those ranks are growing) The American loving Democrats had to switch to the Republican party. That's why we have so many RINO's.
The left can't seem to condem America enough to the rest of the world...note, Clinton's and Obama's apologizing tours.
To be patriotic and American loving is no longer 'cool.' That's for fanatical, flag-waving, religious, right-wing nuts that don't know they're suppose to hate America. And, because you're not cool, they'll often add the word 'backward' in describing you.
Generalized hatred of the US is a fairly new phenomenon among the left and it's genesis is mysterious. Leftists and near communist and real communist such as Woodie Guthry and Howard Fast rottenly exuded a sort of red/pink patriotism. In this universe the ‘progressive past’ was invoked and the honest virtues of the ‘plain people’ of the ‘working class’ were held us as the true spirit of America. Sometime around 1960 the virus of generalized hatred of America entered the ideological bloodstream of the American left. The. Viet-Nam experience made this posture the default mode for the left and much of liberalism as well. Much of the origin of this virulent loathing comes from the reception of existentialism as mediated through the lens of cultural Marxism. Without going into a cultural critique I put the blame for this evil outcome on the influence of the so-called Frankfurt School on American leftist thought. Read anything by Eric Fromm and you will get a strong dose of hatred for all traditional morality and order. Fromm was a sort of icon in the 60’’s and few who passed through a US undergrad program didn't read something by Fromm or Goodman or Erickson or some such preaching loathing of US society in toto. Now with the US facing a virtual depression the lack of any real concern by the left/liberal chattering class is not surprising. The ‘workers’ have gone from the ‘objectively progressive’ to dreck on the shoes of their enlightened betters.
