What do Eastern religious symbols have to do with America needing to wake up?
Because in this case I have no doubt that "Eastern religious symbols" is code word for Islam.

Doubtful. Islam is not an “Eastern religion,” and I doubt anyone would refer to Islamic symbols as “Eastern religious symbols.” I’ve certainly never heard them referred to like that before.

No, I think they mean Buddhist and Taoist symbols. Islam isn’t “East”.
