July is almost over and this is the first heat wave this year and it is only lasting 4 days. As a runner training for a half marathon, I know what I am talking about.

Ran my usual Friday evening 10K. Temperature was 99 degrees, but with the sun going down it wasn't too bad.

I skipped my 7 miler this AM. Alarm went off at 5 and I reset it for 615. Have a 13.1 trial scheduled for Sunday morning. Stashing a couple of Gatorades along the course. Last week did 12, which was a personal record so we’ll see how it goes. Can’t wait for the race Labor Day weekend (Virginia Beach Rock n Roll half marathon) so I can get back to the 3 and 5 mile routes. On a positive note I have gone friends m 190 pounds in November to 158 without changing my eating habits at all. Down to wearing 32 inch pants for the first time since I was 15. I am 32 now. I have been running for 4 years, but this is the first time I’ve ramped up the milage like this.

Today in Seattle was the first day in a week or more that we hit 70 I think. Supposed to be 79 or maybe even 80 tomorrow. (A couple of weeks ago we finally hit 80 for 72 minutes!)

Next week is back to the upper 60’s.
