If you see something silly, say something: Homeland Security training video portrays all "terrorists" as white, middle class males
Don't they know stereotyping causes alienation, and alienation and poor self-esteem lead to radicalization? Now these poor men are going to have to deal with those additional radicalized Misunderstanders of Middle America and worry about backlash because of their portrayal in this video! And this is going to damage our standing with middle-class white guys abroad in nations that are our Friends and Allies, and create even more terrorists.
Of course, the intention seems obvious. But by bending over so far backward to show they aren't singling out any other group, they appear to have created a study in absurdity. As James Thurber once cautioned, "You might as well fall flat on your face as lean over too far backward."

A video released by the Department of Homeland Security urging people to report anything suspicious has caused outrage by characterising white middle class Americans as the most likely terrorists. The promotional video is part of Homeland Security's $10million 'See Something, Say Something' programme as they believe it will help curb random acts of terrorism by individuals.
But the controversial video has angered some Americans due to the fact all the actors who play the would-be terrorists in the video are white, and the people who report them are either black, Asian or Arab. What would happen - it is asked - if it was the other way about?
Lawsuits. Oodles and oodles of lawsuits.
The ten-minute clip shows a number of scenarios in which different behaviours which could be characterised as terrorism are played out.
These include - wearing a hooded top, driving vans, opposing surveillance footage, using a video camera, talking to police officers and recording something on your smartphone, among others.
The voice over urges viewers not to consider a person's race when making a decision on whether or not they are a terrorist. [...]
DHS has confirmed the video is theirs but adamantly deny there are any racial or politically correct overtones to it.
Not only are the “terrorists” white males, all of the reporting citizens are, with one exception, very swarthy, Negro or Middle Eastern in appearance. This film is the ultimate piece of racist propaganda.
I had a visit early last year from a fellow masquerading as a hospice nurse (my mother is on hospice care for Alzheimer’s). This guy was the biggest man that I ever ever seen for a short guy at 5’7” and 275 pounds, and probably less than 8% body fat. After he took care of mother, he joined us in the living room for an introduction, since we had never seen him before, and talked about the sport of “power lifting”, which I had excelled in up until about 20 years ago, hunting and other outdoor activities, and I showed him and old custom 6.5x55 that I had built(being careful to not cop to owning any other toys). After talking about his stint as a trainer in Ukraine, his training Brad Pitt for a movie role in London, and his try at the Foreign Legion, he just out of the blue asked me where he could meet some “militia types”.
I had red lights and sirens going off in my head so I told him that I didn’t advocate the overthrow of the government, and that he shouldn’t hang around with people that did. After he left, I googled his name which turned up photos of him in Ukraine, at the gangster’s home in London where the Brad Pitt training took place, and a bunch of other biographical stuff.
The regular nurse came the next day and said the hospice group did not know who this guy was, and that he disappeared the same day that he visited me.
I can only speculate, but the only activities that I engage in that could be remotely perceived as anti-government are my membership on this site, the past membership on a gun owners forum that originated in Norway, and a query sent to the NC Militia for information(oops). Oh, and I had my photo taken at a couple of “Tea Party” rallies in Charlotte, NC.
It would appear that the Feds already have a long list that they are working so be careful what you think.

According to the Home Security company television ads, all the home invasions are being done by white males...on single moms living in quarter million dollar homes in the ‘burbs.
And thus, the emasculation and denigration of the white male continues apace..

It's not just government agents out there. Regular people who get into some legal trouble may be told that the trouble could "go away" if they help the feds do stings on people they know. So the next guy to ask you where he can meet "militia types" could be a co-worker or an old buddy.
Was obviously scripted and made by holder’s people who have a strong kinship with mooselimbs the world over. C’mon, its their turn, we owes it to em, you know mofo.

Being a young retired person (63), I am happy to report that there are no longer any “co-workers” to turn me in. The old buddy thing could be a concern so some discernment would certainly be in order if anyone from the past shows up out of the “clear blue” and wants to get chummy.
My wife and I harbor no illusions about where all of this is going. We just hope for a few relatively quiet years before the knock on the door comes late one evening.
Some day, we will look back and use things like this as examples of self-fulfilling prophecy.
Keep calling me a terrorist and treating me like a slave. It’s a sure way to find out exactly how accurate I am with a rifle.

I pray that we all have many quiet years ahead.
Being 46 and divorced with no children, I am in a unique position to respond to that knock on the door with justifiable, constitutional, deadly force.
Even if this country as we know it even survives until November 2012, I have serious doubts we are just one new President away from undoing all of the evil in this land.
The best way to respond to thugs breaking down the door is to be laying in a hide outside of the house with an unobstructed view of the door, if you get my drift :>).
