Deal is apparently to buy 35 stores out of 400.
All the rest are poofed.

I liked shopping their bookstore locally, but I have never seen a company so bad at running an internet business (unless the "business" was some guy selling stuff from his garage). They had absolutely no inventory control and would continue saying items were "in-stock" even though they had been backordered for weeks. Even if they had stayed in business, they would be the last place I ordered from after Amazon, B&N, Books-a-Million and some guy selling books from his garage.

“Deal is apparently to buy 35 stores out of 400.”
That’s great. It’s the market working, not the government handing borders a life line.

They never should have bothered with an online presence. Their strength was the in-store experience—leafing through books on a rainy afternoon, with the intoxicating aroma of coffee everywhere.
Maybe they should have spread out their stores a little more. More stores with fewer books maybe. It’s sad. I hate to see them go.

All I know is that Borders “been bery bery good to me” and Patriot’s History. It always has a large stock and keeps most of my titles in every store. I hope they can work something out.
