I just cut my satellit plan from $70 to $15/month due to nothing being on TV anyway and half the channels were trying to sell me jewelry or get rich on real estate deals.
Did this about 4 months ago....don’t miss it at all! Occasionally my husband would like to SEE one of the baseball games....but, we have XM, so he can listen most times, plus HIS team, the Mariners, are doing lousy! And, now, he’s discovered we have a lot of good books in our house!
Moving next week - keeping DSL/Netflix - cutting cable.
I watch Netflix downloads 90% of the time. The other 10% ESPN. To hell with the rest.
it’s been over a year since i cut the cord. i’m very happy with OTA plus netflix plus my DVD/BD collection plus online content. i may part company with netflix when they double their rate for 2 disc + streaming.
We dropped cable. Don’t miss it much at all.
One thing we were unprepared for, though—our typical cable fare was stuff like Dirty Jobs, Deadliest Catch, and science programs, and the occasional trashy show for laughs. When we sat down to watch broadcast TV (CBS, ABC, NBC), we were actually shocked at how tawdry and vile it had become. And now, unfortunately, there wasn’t much else to choose from.
Anymore, we tend to stick to PBS stations if we watch broadcast. But otherwise, it’s lots of Netflix.
Some years ago, I realized I don’t need to be entertained by actors and athletes. Now I have more time to DO things rather than watch other people do things.
Hmmmmm....... You folks are making me think that I should take a close look at Netflix.
Frankly, I’ve never bothered to even look into Netflix, because my satellite works just fine.
We cut cable over 10 years ago, mostly because their service sucked and they drove me crazy with the mystery add on’s to the bill and continuous rate increases.
I guess I need to see what the Netflix is all about.
Indeed, the monthly download cap could be the downfall of Netflix itself.
