Not even remotely equivalent. The U.S. Post Office isn’t in trouble because we’re in decline, but because we’re so affluent. Electronic means of communication have reduced U.S mail to nothing but but ads, scams and receipts for bills that have already been paid electronically. Physical mail just isn’t used as much and it isn’t important as it used to be.
