If there is a market for fresh vegetables someone will pop up to service it. These companies are agreeing to lose money in exchange for the good publicity.

This is an example of how government give an advantage to big business over small ones. A small company couldn’t afford to do this.

They may think they get good publicity. They want to do charity work, go ahead be my guest, but I won’t be shopping at these stores.

My money and my feet go elsewhere.

Most likely they will be subsidized or given tax incentives to open up in these locations

I doubt if any of these companies will lose anything. Seems they will be generously subsidized by the govt.

I think if we look deeper, we'd find that there are some sorts of guarantees incvolved, be they tax breaks, subsidizies, grants, or just the attraction of being able to overcharge on the EBT cards.
