U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner on Tuesday said there needs to be a backup plan for cutting deficits and raising the debt ceiling instead of relying purely on a measure soon to be voted upon that faces near certain defeat in the Senate.
Speaking to reporters, Boehner said it would be responsible to consider a backup plan.

I fail to see how the Democrat controlled U.S. Senate refusing to pass or perhaps even vote on a bill passed by the Republican controlled U.S. House of Representatives becomes a problem for the Speaker of the House to make a backup plan... The Senate Democrats have a chance to raise the Debt Ceiling - which they want to do — and they don’t do it using the House Bill ... Hmmmmm? Sounds like it would be the Democrats problem ... not the Republican Speaker of the House... Guess we fell down the rabbit hole again...
Plan 1. Fire Boner and the Young Guns. Idiots all.
Plan2. Defund Obamacare 100%.
No matter what plan “B”, “C”, or “D” is, the answer will NOT not be “Cut, Cap and Balance”....once again it will be “Spend, Spend and Spend”.
This is backwards, the senate needs a backup plan if it doesn’t pass the house bill.
LOL. The SSTT Plan (Spend, Spend, Tax, Tax)
The backup plan to “cap/cut/balance” MUST be do nothing. House, you did the right thing. If it doesn’t move further, its in Reeds (sic) lap. Whatever comes out of the Senate should be DOA as well (especially if it has increases in revenue, since that unconstitutionally does not start in the House). Thus, the do nothing plan is for zer0 to go extra-constitutional with the 14th (nail him on it if he does), OR, pay the monthly bills: debt ($25 billion), SS ($29 billion) with over $150 billion for the rest.
If we are smart Zeros penchant to lead from behind, basicially no plan ever for anything at all,no budget in 800+ days, no plan for the deficit, no plan on anything, could be his undoing in 2012 if our side has the brains to point it out often and emphatically.
Presidents don't lead from behind. They pose plans, lead, and take their credits and their hits. Zero won't take any hits he's a wimp.
| The Gang of Six proposal leaves the specifics up to Congressional committees to hammer out in the future. There's no guarantee Congress will actually act on the bigger spending cuts. 'The plan has some good ideas' says Cantor. So there you go, time to fold the cards. Down the road to Hades we go. |

Never give up. Never surrender!
Stop negotiating with evil. You control the purse-strings, Dems, take it or leave it.
Zero won’t be happy until you roll over, give him what everything he wants and submissively urinate on yourself, like you usually do.
The only choice we have is a 5% cut for everything, even SS payments and, yes, soldier/sailor pay. Then grant a 500 Billion debt increase.
This guy is as transparent as glass....he pushes a bill he knows will fail to pass the senate and immediately says wait, we have a back up plan. How about this: this is the bill, take it or leave it. Put a note on it saying: WE WON.
If the senate does not pass it or even take it up, seems to me the problem lays with them, not the House. If pinnochio in the White Hut does not publicly endorse the senate passing a bill and conferencing it, he is complicit in nothing getting done. If, with a million to one shot, this bill gets to His Majesty and he vetos it, failure will have his fingerprints all over it.
Keep your eye on the goal Bonehead, the goal is to get that ass out of the White Hut as soon as possible, even if he choses to do nothing and prioritize who gets paid out of current receipts after paying the interest due.
....unconstitutionally does not start in house.....
You are correct, BUT Senate can attach gang of six to House bill as an amendment and send back to House for passage. They do this all the time. Even Cantor is quoted saying nice things about gang of six. I am beginning to see white flags about to be unfurled.
Unfortunately, Boehner is right. The passing of CC&B won’t stop the Rs from getting the blame on a gov’t shut down, just like we got blamed in 95 even tho the shutdown was caused vy a Clinton veto.
They have to keep pushing for whatever deal they can get. Such as passing a $500B spending reduction-$500B debt limit increase through the House. Make it simple so the Dims can’t demagogue it to death. Keep it clean so Dick Obama has to sign it.
I like it, but make the cut 7% and the ceiling raise $300B
