"Nearly" is in the ball park of all those 'woulda', 'coulda', 'might have', 'maybe', 'if', 'if only', etc. Don't count for squat and to even report a "nearly" is not only beyond ludicrous, it is asinine, idiotic, and most of all, irrelevant. =.=

I always say, "It's equally valid to say: 'The cornerback ALMOST MESSED UP THAT PLAY EVEN WORSE THAN HE DID!'"
As a matter of fact, that "almost intercepted", "almost assassinated" idea is both a real victory and a moral victory for the other side -- and thus it's a negative to even mention it as such.
