Former U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra apparently has had a change of heart and is once again thinking about challenging U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Lansing).

Hoekstra is a world class A-hole.
Then he’ll do a fine job of “evacuating” Debbie Stabenow.
He may be an a-hole, but :e’s our a-hole. And God knows he is better than Stabenow.
I had to get that off my chest. I feel better now.
LOL exactly.
Plus there is exactly zero chance he’ll ever run for president.
DO IT ! DO IT ! DO IT ! DO IT ! DO IT ! DO IT !
Take the dangerously incompetent bitch down.
None of your business since your in Peeeewaukee.
I would probably pick someone else but from a completely subjective standpoint, Hoekstra is probably the one who can seriously challenge the bloated one.
I hope he does
Hoekstra has personally pursued policies and subsidies that have been damaging to my livelihood and to my effort to support employment in West Michigan. And his staffers have thumbed their noses at me, because he gets more campaign cash from the competitor. He’s a cynical and arrogant SOB, a DC creature not a West Michigan guy.
He was a congressman for sale and he’ll be worse if elected as a prince of DC. He’s certainly not one of the good guys.
Chances are that it will mean two open house seats in Michigan next year. One firmly democrat and one firmly GOP but we might be able to push Hoekstra’s seat to the right some more.
You would think the Michigan Republicans could come up with a much better candidate. Hoekstra is defense/military guy, not an economy or jobs guy.
I’d hope that one of the other guys from the Mackinac Island set - a Dick DeVos or someone of that ilk would step up and run Stabenau out.
For all of the union and Democrat clout in Michigan, there are also some serious heavyweights in the Republican camp - especially if you could draw someone from outside the political class (see Rick Snyder, or Ron Johnson in Wisconsin). A guy like that, speaking with credibility, would have serious appeal against a partisan hack like Stabenau.
Hoekstra is a retread. A guy who couldn’t manage his way past a statewide primary for the Governor’s office against a relative unknown who touted himself as “the nerd.” He may be the best of the batch right now, but voters will remember him as a guy who lost not 2 years ago, and that makes him a liability. A guy who is dependent on the government payroll because he doesn’t have enough DC connections or alliances to make it on the outside.
*Needs some fixing*
Dangerously Deranged and Uglified Incompetent
Better.....
:-)
I think Hoekstra will have what it takes to be nasty because you just know that Stabenow plans a filthy race.
Nice yardstick!
Your ox was gored, so he’s an ass.....
Pete has done more for the Military and Intel community over the last dozen years, than any 20 congresscritters.
He’s supported critical programs when they were on the block and he’s killed failing programs when the customer and contractors couldn’t perform.
Like it or not, those assessments were based on performance, not political payoffs.
It would be a bonus to challenge for and win this seat.
I’m not talking about selling military work - I’m talking about the congressman meddling in private markets via government intervention.
While I don’t question his past support of intel and military, I don’t have a very high opinion of the man’s integrity and I also believe that we need a candidate that is focused on job creation, the economy and the debt, not a single-issue military/defense/foreign affairs candidate for Senate. Levin is already the senior senator from Michigan on that beat.
