CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — In spite of his thundering speeches against big government, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has a troubled relationship with the tea party, a rift increasingly obvious as he gets closer to a presidential bid.

Tea party groups from New Hampshire to Texas are collaborating to criticize Perry's record on immigration, public health and spending and his former affiliation with the Democratic Party.

"An article from today about Gardasil Rick Perry."

To quote Humblegunner...

"Perry will beat Obama's ass all over the country and then shoot him up with Gardasil!"

I suspect he'll have enough left over for you too (the way you whimper about Gardasil on these threads, you may indicate you need a healthy dose...)

The establishment candidates like Perry and Romney will be competing for the establishment vote.

I’d like a tea party conservative.

People have pointed out that I like Ron Paul.

I do.

But I also have pointed out on various threads, many a time, that our strongest ticket is Palin / Paul.

Palin would bring in Republicans. I can’t think of any Republicans who would support Perry and not Palin.

And Ron Paul would pick up Independents, where Palin does not appear to be polling strongly at the moment.

I’m a Ron Paul supporter, but I’m not going to make the case that establishment elites do find him tolerable.

What is interesting is that Palin, too, does not seem to inspire happiness with establishment elites, either.

I think tea party will be mighty, and they might not all support the same candidate, but tea party will be supporting a tea party candidate. And there’s never been a conservative GOTV organization, mighty, and not affiliated with the GOP or a particular candidate.

This is an old graphic from the Houston Chronicle archives, if photoshops are what you're looking for.

Ah, so NOW we know.
The Ron ‘Truther’ Paul bots are the ones trashing Perry.
It figures.

I’m just tired of the same old globalist crap.

Meeee too! Today’s globalist ideology is disloyal to the dignity and interests of Americans and it is anti-constitutional.

Citizens of the world need to be deported to their country - “the world.”

Yeah, meeting with brown racists who hate the US, is not what I want in the White House.

Wonder if he supports Atzlan (sp) and promised to get the gringos and blacks out of Texas and the rest of the Southwest.

Why would he want their vote? Did he stop by the Nation of Islam and KKK while he was out?

He has a long history of betraying Texans for the pleasure of Mexico, too. Open borders and abetting illegals is his immigration policy. I think it is safe to say he’s an amnesty kind of guy.

The 2012 electorate is desperate for income and the only issue they’re going to be bringing to the ballot box is fiscal conservatism. Texas is EXHIBIT A. If Christie is on the ticket with him, Obama is gone, and the depression begins to end. Does that matter to anyone, anywhere. Hello-oo? Anybody there?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this depression will not end by putting another corrupt anti-American, open-borders, pro-amnesty, off-shoring, globalist RINO back in the White House.

Perry is no conservative, and neither is Chris Christie.

Thank you very much, but I’m in to knock out Obama, not to resurrect a saint who can not get elected in the general. Those who have no income, strapped businesses, and those working two jobs are going to give the guy a listen and then take a look at exhibit A, which is a Texas fiscal triumph, and which he has presided over, and then...they are going to vote for him. Independents are going to like him most of all after he knocks out Romney.

I actually had a sit down with Rick Perry about three years ago and we had a chance to spit and whittle for about ten minutes or so. Eyeball to eyeball is as good a way as any to get a feel for what someone is made of, especially when they aren't sure just where you're coming from. It's JMHO, but I believe Perry is more conservative than not; more right than wrong on major issues. He doesn't mind wearing his faith on his sleeve and it drives the secular types nuts, as in they claim he wants to set up a theocracy in Texas. You can judge a man by his enemies maybe better than his friends.

I personally think Rick Perry is good people. He ain't perfect but he ain't bad and we could do a whole lot worse.

That’s exactly how we came to have Obama in the WH.

Think GENERAL ELECTION, or keep Obama. Independents are going to cross over where they can and they are going to vote in our primary. Palin isn’t running. If she did, she couldn’t carry enough Independents to pad a bra in the general election and does not poll well enough among Republicans to even be assured of the nomination. Sarah
knows all this stuff. That’s why she isn’t running. She hopes to serve but not run. (IMHO)
