Police announced Tuesday that they had arrested one man and issued a warrant for another suspected of being involved in a weekend home invasion at U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell's farm outside Lamoni.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety said authorities had arrested Cody John Rollins, 19, of Lamoni. He's charged with first degree burglary, assault while participating in a felony, going armed with intent and three counts of first degree robbery.

He was held on $50,000 bond, and a lawyer hadn't yet been named.

Police also were searching for David Palmer Dewberry, 20, of Fremont, Neb., who is considered armed and dangerous and may have fled the state.

Authorities have said a man with a gun entered the congressman's house Saturday night and attacked his daughter. Boswell tried to fight the man off, and as they scuffled, his 22-year-old grandson got a shotgun. When Boswell's grandson pointed the gun at the intruder, the man ran off.

Boswell, a 77-year-old Democrat, suffered minor injuries, but no one was seriously hurt.

Officials said Dewberry was the man who entered the house, while Rollins was his driver.

"They were looking for money," Decatur Country Sheriff Herbert Muir said at a news conference. "Within an hour of it happening, we had some names."

Dewberry and his family lived in Lamoni for a time before moving to Nebraska, and his mother was friendly with Boswell's wife and he had actually been to the Boswell home, Muir said. The gun used in the home invasion turned out to be a BB gun, but it resembled a pistol, he said...

That should keep him occupied for a while.

Isn’t there some federal offense here since the guy was a congress critter? Or is there not since he was not in an “official capacity” while he was at home?

Pretty disgusting to try and harm 2 elderly people like this. I’m glad their grandson was able to come to their rescue.

My understanding is that even though the guy is a dem he’s on the right side of things 2nd amendment-wise, but I don’t have a cite for that.

It could be a federal offense if he was targeted because he is in Congress. However, these guys were just looking for drug money.
