Michele Bachmann Reportedly Suffers From Stress-Induced "Episodes"
Business Insider ^ | 07/19/2011 | Zeke Miller

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) suffers from incapacitating, stressed-induced migraines, The Daily Caller reports, questioning her fitness to be President.

The report cites multiple sources close to the GOP presidential candidate confirming the condition, and lists multiple hospital stays and trips to urgent care centers for treatment.

"She has terrible migraine headaches. And they put her out of commission for a day or more at a time. They come out of nowhere, and they’re unpredictable,” a Bachmann adviser involved in her 2010 congressional campaign told The Daily Caller.

A spokeswoman for Bachmann, Alice Stewart, confirmed ”she suffers from migraines and they’re under control with medicine,” but said the report that they were incapacitating is wrong.

it is an obvious hit piece from the Lib Media

It may well be a hit piece, but it ain't from the Lib Media. It's from the "Daily Caller".

Thanks for the saline tip solution tip. I used to suffer from horrible headaches quite often, but have learned that most were due to certain foods. I will get a headache with the cheaper chocolate that has additives and is not real chocolate, inexpensive perfumes (they have chemicals instead of natural fragrances.), and too much sugar the night before. Certain smells will trigger. Stress can do it, too.

The # 1 culprit in recent times, is EQUAL aka ASPARTAME!!!!! It is poison, and if it is in a diet drink, I am doomed for a headache so bad I can't move my head. I have to check all labels for this. I drink Diet Rite soda now.....no aspartame, no sodium and no calories. It also tastes better than any diet soda out there, to me anyway.

For anyone reading this who suffers from terrible headaches, please watch out for aspartame in your food or drinks. If you must use artificial sweeteners, use Truvia or Splenda....NOT EQUAL!

Even more importantly a Marxist with a migrain would be a heroic victim.

Awesome. Anything to kill that pain.

Overbite tends to cause them too. That’s how Bristol Palin cured hers. There are a number of causes.

If the smear campaign has already started, the Dems must be worried.

I skimmed a hit piece on her in Rolling Stone, too.

She might be an interesting candidate.

My daughters both suffer from migraines. One daughter is especially prone to severe cases. She can feel them coming on when she sees an “auroa” and she finds herself “spacing out” —her term, not the medical term.

I DO know that when she has them, she is down and out. Period. Now, it doesn’t prevent her from driving. But, being a pilot is out of the question.

So, it is serious. It can be debilitating. And it is important to know whether or not the person in charge is down for 16 hours with a horrible migraine.

I do not know if MB’s migraines are that horrible. I am not passing judgement on her. I am just saying, from personal experience, this can be more than just a “thing.”

There are a number of causes.

My husband has several regular clients who benefit from Neuromuscular Massage Therapy for migraines. One of his referring physicians depends on this for some of his more intractable patients. Most get to the point where the headaches are less frequent, with some even going a year or so between attacks.

Recently, two chronic migraine sufferers have had them completely resolve after having heart surgery for patent foramen ovale. One of the heart surgeons even told one patient that he could expect the migraines to resolve, saying he sees this often.

But there can be really serious causes, as well, such as tumors.

I agree with your assessment. This is something to consider when choosing a candidate, and she should be very forthright about it when asked.

If she gets stress-induced headaches and is out of commission for a day or so, it’s only going to get worse if she becomes President.

Even worse, if she’s nominated and it happens too much during the campaign, it could get Obama re-elected.

Personally, I don’t think she’s the best candidate, given her tendency to put her foot in her mouth, but I think she could overcome that. This issue might be a different story, however, and she should address it directly and honestly.

I won't believe any of these stories. I don't trust any story about any conservative (female especially) candidate unless I hear it from them directly.

First, I hope you're less naive than you sound.

Second, her campaign confirmed migraine suffering in the story. She'll absolutely have to address this allegation.

Using saline solution to moisten or wash out the sinuses really was the key. I believe the saline solution also kills viruses but if nothing else it sure dilutes them.

Grit your teeth, clench your jaw, folks, it’s going to be a long, nasty time leading up to November, 2012. Next, they’ll be accusing her of being an oxycontin addict.

Why don’t you have some patience and let this play out? I didn’t see one name mentioned as a source. And there was no credible medical reference.

It boggles my mind that so many people remain susceptible to the demrats putting false information out via unnamed sources. This information invariably proves to be totally false or hugely exagerated.

The really sad and dangerous part of even credible medical information is how easily it can be manipulated or misinterpreted.

I got a less than steller life insurance rate a few years back because the insurance company said I had COPD, ulcerative colitus and diviticulitus.

The COPD came from a radiologist’s x-ray code. I had some chest x-rays done because I was having spells of light headedness. Turns out to have been the result of being computer bound five days a week for 10 months. COPD was never discussed or diagnosed. But the radiologist needed a code to obgtain insurance reimbursement. He used the one for COPD. I should also note that radiologists do not diagnose anthing. That is a medical doctor’s job. Moreover, COPD did not appear in my doctor’s narrative.

To correct the record I had to get another x-ray and have my doctor attest that I did not and never had COPD.

As for the ulcerative and diviticulosis issues: I have viral colitus. There are three colitus categories. Viral and ulcerative are two of them. I forget the third. My proctologist discussed all the colitus variations as well as diviticulosis with me over the years. She was very conscientious about recording everything we talked about in her notes.

Despite it being clear in her notes that I had viral colitus (the least serious), the insurance company chose to cherry pick through my doctor’s notes for words that would justify giving me a poor rate.

One of the problems is that doctors send your medical info to insurance companies—with your permission—but will not speak to insurance company reps.

At the time I was running 2 miles three times a week in 21 minutes—not too shabby for a 60-year-old.

I asked the insurance rep if a doctor had reviewed my files. She said yes and I asked for his name and address. She refused to give it to me so I asked for a supervisor. Superviser started to play the same game so I threatened to contact my state’s insurance commission. Turns out no doctor reviewed my file.

It took 2 months of investigation on my part and hours on the telephone to straighten everything out. I finally got a prime life insurance rate.

My point with this post is to alert people to the fact that you need to be very careful what gets put into your medical records.

“Second, her campaign confirmed migraine suffering in the story.”

Many people get them. But the story posted indicated she is hospitalized and on medications. Big difference.

Again there have been people with agendas posting falsehoods to discredit both Bachmann and Palin.

Not going to get sucked into it.
