Israel is more than capable of protecting itself. Instead of committing troops and taking action, why not just give them the proverbial “green light”

I wish that were so, but it isn't. Israel's air force, man for man, plane for plane, can match even ours. But it's actually quite tiny. And Iran's nuclear facilities are spread out throughout the country, many buried deep underground. Then there's the problem of getting there, which would require at least tacit permission from either Saudi Arabia or Jordan (possible) plus Iraq (less likely).

If Israel had the capability to take out Iran's program, they would have done it already. I'm not saying we should do it for them. But it's quite easy to overestimate Israel's military capabilities.

“But it’s quite easy to overestimate Israel’s military capabilities.”

The statement you replied to is a Ron Paul policy, he’s repeated it ad nauseum. Paul isn’t fond of Israel and really doesn’t care if they can defend themselves or not.
