Yes, I have been to Ft Hood twice in my life. I don’t live too far from there, as I’m in Lakeway, which is on Lake Travis, more or less a suburb of Austin.

We own a “ranch” between Lampassas and Ft Hood. I know the area quite well, but had never known that military bases don’t let their troops keep weapons. I was very naive in that respect. You just expect soldiers to be armed—LOL!

There are megarules for having personally owned guns on base. You usually have to keep it with some master at arms and check it out when you would like to go hunting or target shooting.

It really cant be done.
So you move off base and enjoy the rights of a civilian in that regard.
