PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A Florida teenager is accused of killing his parents and then throwing a house party inside their Port St. Lucie home.
Police said 17-year-old Tyler Hadley used a hammer to kill Blake Hadley, 54, and Mary-Jo Hadley, 47, on Saturday.
Police went to the home at 371 Northeast Grandeur Ave. about 4:20 a.m. Sunday after getting an anonymous tip that a teenager had killed his parents and that their bodies were still in the home.
Detectives said Tyler Hadley was nervous when he answered the door.
"He said that his parents were out of town," said Capt. Don Kryak, of the Port St. Lucie Police Department. "That was contrary to the information that we had that they, in fact, had been killed."
Officers found the victims' bodies in the locked master bedroom and a weapon possibly used in the killings nearby.
"We believe that the homicide occurred outside the door of the master bedroom," said Port St. Lucie police spokesman Tom Nichols. "We believe that Mom was killed first, then Dad, and then Tyler did bring the bodies back inside the room, where they were laid on the floor, the hammer between them, where he tried to conceal the bodies with household items."
Police said Tyler Hadley concealed the bodies by putting towels, linens and picture frames on them.
Police said Tyler Hadley posted an invitation to the party at his house at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, and the party began about 9 p.m. Sometime in between, Tyler Hadley killed his parents, police said. About 40-60 people attended the party inside the home after the killings had been committed, according to investigators.
Detectives said Hadley was very nervous after he was arrested and refused to answer many questions.
"When Tyler Hadley came back to the police department, he didn't speak with detectives, nor did he make any incriminating statements, so as far as motive, there is no idea what the motive was," Nichols said.
"They said that he killed his parents with a hammer because they wouldn't let him throw a party," a partygoer said.
Hadley is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is being held without bond.
The medical examiner is conducting an autopsy on the victims to determine exactly how they died.
Police believe Mary-Jo Hadley was a teacher and that Blake Hadley worked for Florida Power and Light.

First off, I vote to try him as an adult and let him learn about needles. He needs to understand what 1st degree murder means.
On another related topic, why is a 17-year old’s identity and photo given out in the press? All the “youths” and “teens” in Milwaukee and Columbia’s (and NC, TX, MI, IL, etc.) names were non-disclosed, unless over 18.
Dead giveaway...he killed both parents...he HAD to be Anglo. No protection for the suburban kid in the press, unlike the ‘yoots.
The problem with kids is that they are desensitized.
A whole generation has grown up watching these movies, and playing violent first-person video games.
