The atheists and secular humanists have hurt our nation, conservative commentator insists
God Discussion ^ | July 18, 2011 | Debate

Dr. Carol Swain, conservative commentator, joined Thom Hartmann for a debate about Texas Governor Rick Perry's prayer summit.

Insisting that America was "founded as a Judeo-Christian nation," Swain declared that "atheists have hurt our nation" because of suing to remove prayer from the public schools.

"I believe the one reason we have some of the conditions that you talked about at the beginning of the show is because we have ousted God from public life because of a small minority of people, those atheists that created trouble in 1962. And the Constitution does not say anything about a wall of separation between church and state. That was to prevent the establishment of a state church. Not to say that God had no role in public life."

Hartmann pointed out that countries where people were the happiest, healthiest and equal, like Denmark, are less religious. Swain continued to insist, despite this evidence, that America is in decline because of "unbiblical and ungodly choices." She said that secular humanists and atheists are leading the country down the wrong path and that Christianity is under siege.

Hartmann, a Christian himself, defended atheists, humanists and the wall of separation of church and state.

Swain said that she was not advocating a "theology" (presumably, theocracy), but thought that "We should be able to argue public policies with religious reasoning and scriptures."

Governor Perry should be indicted for conspiring to violate the Constitution’s “establishment clause”.

/sarcasm/

“And Alinsky!”

I know what you’re saying and agree with you.

I was getting at the original (not as far back as Eden, though) causes of today’s sickness. American universities caught it from the German intellectuals of the nineteenth century who carried it forward from the Reign Of Terror eighteenth century, and it was fermenting in the USA before Alinsky was even born.

I agree, however, I believe Obama sees the year remaining in his first term as providing the Left with enough time to push people into ever more desperate circumstances.

Also, many have lost their “choice.” They’re products of generational, government sponsored, poverty induced ignorance and dependency. Include in the mix the public sector union jobs that are headed by hard core Leftists ready to march alongside the growing number of radicalized students, “environmentalists” set on taking our property rights away and a U.S. justice department that pits groups against each other.

I believe we are still in the majority but if we don’t pull this out in 2012 it may be a long time, if ever, until we’ll see our Republic stand strong again.

What "evidence?" A nebulous list of "Happy" and "Equal" made up by some faggot enviro?

These words are propaganda and this particular technique is the "Affirming the Antecedent" technique, or; that which came first, which is the assumed-to-be-correct phrase "despite this evidence." I'll say it again--THERE IS NO EVIDENCE.

I am still trying to figure out how so many of so FEW got into the high positions they have attained.

It's called REPARATIONS. Don't kid yourself, that is exactly what it is. Go to any government building. Go to the DMV. Who is working there? Yeah, I said it.

“Our sarcasm could be their goals for tomorrow.”

You can bet on it. I would even dare say it involves
a bit of “re-education”.

IMHO

http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/politics/entries/2011/07/18/perry_unclear_about_whos_calli.html

“Gov. Rick Perry has said in recent days that he may be called to run for president, but he left unspecified Monday just who is making that call.

“There’s a lot of different ways to be called,” Perry said Monday after signing a health-care bill at the Capitol. “My mother may call me for dinner. My friends may call me for something. There are people that are calling from all across this country into either me directly or to people that they know and saying, ‘Man, we wish you would consider doing this.’”

A reporter asked whether that meant there were no religious overtones to his suggestion that he was being called.

“Oh no, no, no, no,” Perry said. “I don’t ever get confused about that I am a man of faith. I don’t make any apologies about my faithfulness. And the fact of the matter is I think anybody who goes through life without having that foundation of faith, I don’t know how they do it. I couldn’t. So the idea that, do I look for signs and do I look for good Scripture that tells me how to live my life? Absolutely I do that.”

....A number of religious groups associated with that event have come under considerable criticism for statements they have made in the past.

....“I’m sure that in elections in the past that have been some groups that have endorsed me publicly that I appreciate their endorsement, but their endorsement of me doesn’t mean I endorse what they believe in or what they say,” Perry said. “So I kind of put this in the same category as that.”
