The atheists and secular humanists have hurt our nation, conservative commentator insists
God Discussion ^ | July 18, 2011 | Debate

Dr. Carol Swain, conservative commentator, joined Thom Hartmann for a debate about Texas Governor Rick Perry's prayer summit.

Insisting that America was "founded as a Judeo-Christian nation," Swain declared that "atheists have hurt our nation" because of suing to remove prayer from the public schools.

"I believe the one reason we have some of the conditions that you talked about at the beginning of the show is because we have ousted God from public life because of a small minority of people, those atheists that created trouble in 1962. And the Constitution does not say anything about a wall of separation between church and state. That was to prevent the establishment of a state church. Not to say that God had no role in public life."

Hartmann pointed out that countries where people were the happiest, healthiest and equal, like Denmark, are less religious. Swain continued to insist, despite this evidence, that America is in decline because of "unbiblical and ungodly choices." She said that secular humanists and atheists are leading the country down the wrong path and that Christianity is under siege.

Hartmann, a Christian himself, defended atheists, humanists and the wall of separation of church and state.

Swain said that she was not advocating a "theology" (presumably, theocracy), but thought that "We should be able to argue public policies with religious reasoning and scriptures."

Watch this video Hartman keeps insulting Swain and talking over her, but she gets her point across.

From Hartmann’s demeanor he’s scared of a large showing of praying Christians.

They ousted prayer. They ousted G-d. They ousted discipline. They ousted morals. They ousted teaching. They ousted learning. They opted for propaganda and brainwashing, violemce as free speech, moral equivalency, and sharia for good measure. Homeschool.
As for Perry, let the guy pray if he wants to and anyone who wants to join him, have at it. It sure ain’t gonna hurt and it might even help.

Cutting to the chase so early in the thread.

Good work.

Well Mr Hartmann I don’t care what Sweden does. And the Founders endorsed Aitken’s Bible through an act of Congress in 1777. They also made public lands available to the Moravian Brethren “for civilizing the Indians and promoting Christianity.” And Mr Hartmann, you aren’t nearly as wise as they were.

Since the Left is so dead set against public prayer, it will be interesting to see how this legal gathering is covered and the tone and tenor of the flood of editorials and OpEds that will follow.

Then why must they COVER or remove any and all vestiges of anything remotely resembling any religious (especially Christian) symbol (excepting the Muslim religion ones)? - Oh, they give a rat’s rear end alright.

There are many, many Marxists within the church itself - especially the Catholic.

And there are many Freedom-loving atheists, as well. It is perfectly acceptable to be agnostic, atheistic or devout under our Constitution (Islam excluded).

I could really care less what the left in this country thinks about anything. I am still trying to figure out how so many of so FEW got into the high positions they have attained. Since I’ve been paying attention, they have never exceeded a third of the population. They hover between a hardcore of 26%-32%. We can smack them back into the last century if we would just wake up and stop allowing them to intimidate us.

You are really close.

It isn’t only religion, they are destroying our morals and the Homosexuals are part and parcel of it, now they wish to destroy our military and the sacrament of marriage.

It is all tied together.

I am saying the Marxist Atheist would do the dammage..it is true....

I would say that the majority of Atheists do not advertise their atheism...and like the morality that religion brings..(yeah..it sounds weird...but I believe it to be true.)

That persistent 1/3 has “grown” by creating people dependent on government.

It’s tipping point time. The Left knows it too.

TURN OUT in this election has to be overwhelming to counter the voter fraud the Left will employ.

Isn’t that part and parcel of what happens when you oust G-d? The rules then are what the tyranny of the minority make them. It mocks the Founders’ reasons for a representative republic. I don’t think they quite foresaw a tyranny of the minority or how the SCOTUS would actively interfere to pervert the meaning of their written words. They would not rcognize anything going on in this country today as anything BUT tyranny...and would be angry at us for allowing it to happen.

I think that some of the people who now *depend* on government resent it terribly. Those people had jobs, careers, and lives before government came along and stole it out from under them. I don’t ount thm into thehard left core. It’s a mistake to think most of them would rely on government if they had even the slightest choice.
