I actually saw the movie. The title is from a GK Chesterton quote where he answered the question: What’s wrong with the world?
I found the movie terribly self-indulgent. Here’s a middle aged, wildly successful man who finally figured out something the rest of us learned decades earlier: STUFF DOESN’T MAKE YOU HAPPY. Unfortunately, he’s bursting to share his new found “wisdom” with the rest of us, who he assumes are just as shallow and self-centered as he was.
He seems like a nice man. I just wish he’d pick up on the admonition that, when it comes to giving, to “not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.”
Its not exactly a new concept. Its called Socialism. No wonder the 3 genuis’s Oprah, Rosie and Ellen all liked it so much. Of course those 3 have only taken what they needed. I think I’ll pass on the Oprah movie list. LOL!!!
I am not advocating for the movie. I heard about this and thought it was interesting that someone would give away a huge amount of wealth to try to do some good (you decide if what he does is good). I like the fact that it was voluntary, rather than the government confiscating it. That is the right way to help others. That was my point.
In Malibu. There is a great gulf of difference between living in a trailer park in Malibu than, say, the po’ side of Clovis, New Mexico.
And . . . . ? What's wrong with that? I know the area well and the people living there are mostly pensioners and lower middle class types. Malibu has it all - from extremely wealthy to the homeless.
