I made a mistake by not following the court fights and was wrong but I sincerely believe SB 1070 was designed as a re-election tool for moderate Republicans in Arizona in 2010 like Brewer and McCain.
They had to fend off real or potential challengers (Arpaio as a potential Brewer opponent and Hayworth who actually did run against McCain)

However, that law is rock-solid, and there was no reason for Rick Perry to Not support it, unless he is an Open-Borders slob!
