Bachmann Is Not the Radical in the Room (McCain is smearing Bachmann!!)
NRO ^ | July 16th | Andrew McCarthy

Posted on 07/17/2011 6:37:43 AM PDT by Halfmanhalfamazing

There is a dismaying symmetry about the debt-limit controversy. Today’s Left creates phony crises to rationalize action on its radically transformative program; today’s Right creates phony rationalizations to avoid addressing actual crises. Incrementally, yesterday’s radicalism becomes today’s norm.

The Right talks a good game about small government, constitutional government. But that is all it is: talk. When it gets down to brass tacks, like now, with our nation sinking into a death spiral of unsustainable, incalculable debt, the Right's solution is to grow government while trusting that government will constrain government — at some future date, of course. And when someone has the temerity to say, "No, enough," mainstream Republicans, aided by some in the conservative commentariat, are as quick as the Obama Left to marginalize that someone as an "extremist."

So it was that Sen. John McCain, the very model of a progressive Rockefeller Republican, lambasted a surging GOP presidential hopeful, Rep. Michele Bachmann, for her uncompromising stance on the debt ceiling. By McCain's Big Gummint lights, Bachmann is an extremist for refusing to indulge the notion that we should inflate by $2,500,000,000,000 (that’s not a typo) the credit line of a bankrupt nation that is officially $14,300,000,000,000 in the hole. (The true debt is more like $130,000,000,000,000 if we look beyond Uncle Sam’s Enronesque accounting practices.) And mind you, the $2.5 tril is just what’s necessary to get us through President Obama’s reelection, McCain's 2008 campaign having already done its bit to ensure Obama's election. Once the president’s second term is won, there would be nothing but trillions more in debt and debt-ceiling raises until, sooner rather than later, creditors stop the music and the country collapses.

I am very appreciative when people take the time to be 100% accurate and call these big government republicans what they are.

PROGRESSIVE REPUBLICANS

That's what they are.

To Juan, conservatives are radicals. He pretends to be radical before elections.

He should be a real turd in the punchbowl for the next 5 years.

The figure you posted is from over 2 months ago. the actual is now 14.508 trillion.

http://www.usdebtclock.org/

Which means that we are so far over the debt limit of 14.3 T, that it is comical that they would claim that the “crisis” is still pending.

The “Crisis” IS CONgress, not the National Debt!

McCain is always intervening for the wrong side of conservatism. He and Kerry teamed up to promote R2P and Libya. He has helped Soros grow his progressive orgs by pushing 527 friendly legislation.

I hate how easily Arizona was rolled by this perfidious asshole McCain in his Senate reelection. It reminds me of those nitwits in New Hampshire that got McCain's Presidential campaign off its back.

The fact is that there will be serious pain in a lot of places if the US defaults, even temporarily, BUT this is the only way to fight Democrat intransigence on spending. The GOP is in a position where if they give in they lose for giving in and if they don't they will be blamed for the default. The advantage of the latter is that will show the the Democrats that the endless sugar tit is over.

If the GOP rolls over for Obama like McCain and the other Rino's want this will demonstrate that neither side is in favor of changing. They are playing us all. They just want their personal power and perks. The things the GOP does for us do not make up for them failing to stop the Democrats from killing the economy.

The GOP needs to fight if they want to keep their jobs. The RINOs don't like the Tea Party movement. Let them try to win without them if they don't do their jobs.

In case McCain hasn't noticed, this is one reason why many SUPPORT Bachmann.

Lets face it..McCain is a PROGRESSIVE trying to pass as a Republican. He always was and always will be. He was a sham candidate to insure Obama’s election and a fall back Progressive in case the voter fraud didn’t work out the way the Dems had planned. Either way we were going to get a shot at being a Marxist USA.

Don, for all intents and purposes, we are already there. Obama and Holder disregard the law and the constitution on a daily basis. If the RNC runs another RINO, we will probably lose again, and any hope for a turn around is gone.
