“It impeded the investigation of the murder of a child for journalistic gain. It went so far as to tamper with evidence, which not only made the parents lives (already in turmoil), but could have meant that the killer was never caught or if caught walked free. What the NOTW did in that case (Milly Dowler) is beyond comprehension.”

That pretty much sums it up, and it is disgusting thats so many conservatives in America will defend phone hacking and the obstruction of a murder investigation.

I support Fox News and Murdoch. All the Brit newspapers do this hacking stuff
http://pajamasmedia.com/tatler/2011/07/07/victory-for-the-anti-murdoch-alliance-as-phone-hacking-scandal-shuts-uk-tabloid/?singlepage=true

None of this is to excuse the behaviour of the hackers at the NoW and their enablers. But it’s an open secret that phone hacking is rife among British tabloids, and the Guardian and BBC axis have chosen to play down this fact in their single-minded pursuit of Murdoch and the NoW. Those other tabloids have been happy to play along, although with at least one and perhaps more public inquires on the way, they may yet regret helping to open this particular can of worms.

Few will mourn the passing of the NoW beyond its loyal band of sleaze-addicted readers. But at the same time, the manner in which a left-wing newspaper has been able to collude with the state-funded broadcaster to lead an attack an organization whose power and political alignment they resented should be deeply troubling.

No way !
I don’t think anyone who calls himself conservative defends what you say.

But,on the contrary, some people, here and there, are steadily confusing(deliberatly or not?) different domains of behaviour haking, obstruction to investigation in a murder case, and freedom of information,of speech and thought...

I think that some people are deliberatly keeping up the confusion.

Last but not least i think that BBC, CNN,....should be sued for fake journalism and deliberate and repeated disinformation, personnal smear attacks on individuals for political goals(remember for instance S.Palin...)and also conflict of interests...

It should have been done many years ago
