Cravaack’s re-election campaign begins; family moves to New Hampshire

U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack, R-Lindstrom, told the News Tribune on Friday that he’s being pressured by attack ads to begin running for re-election sooner than he had expected.

He also said that his wife and kids are moving to New Hampshire, where they’ll purchase a home, though he’ll continue to live in the 8th Congressional District and move to North Branch.

“We’re putting our team together a little bit earlier than I thought we were going to have to, but it seems as though the campaign is just on us,” Cravaack said. “When you’re the No. 1 target of the (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) and you’ve had three major campaign ads already run against you, it’s unfortunate, but I had to put my team together earlier than I anticipated. We had to be able to respond to some of these, quite frankly, attack ads.”

The family’s decision to move to New Hampshire was made so that Cravaack and his wife, Traci, could spend more time with their two children. Cravaack said his wife often had to spend three days a week in the Boston area for her work with a medical supply company.

Cravaack said he’s selling his home in Lindstrom and moving to North Branch, where he’ll be closer to his office.

Mrs. Cravaack has in effect decided her career is more important the his. Whether or not it's intentional she has sabotaged his campaign and guarantees the democrats will take back the Mn 8th in the next election.

Sad but true.

We criticized his predecessor for 30 years over the charade that he lived in the district. Pretty hard to defend Chip against this (true) charge now.

Some good Conservative needs to run against him in the primary.

He may as well move to NH too and support his wife’s career since she just ended his.

As far as being a conservative goes, Chip is doing just fine. Having been a part of his phone town meetings, he’s right where he needs to be.

My issue with Jimmy Bikeshorts wasn’t that he didn’t live in the district, it was that he was the most relentless Democrat partisan in Congress and he simply would not listen.

I agree with you and I’ll vote for him again in a heart beat.

I know the district and it was going to be a close race anyway. This move is enough to guarantee the democrats will pick up the seat.

It’s like good conservatives are unwilling to make the least little sacrifices to further their agenda. Mr. Cravaack couldn’t find ANY JOB in the Twin Cities?
