Readin the article, I couldn't help but think of a movie about Ann Frank that I saw in the 1950's. A 2 1/2 ton truck pulled up in front of the building she was hiding in and unloaded a platoon of SS in the NCO / EM overcoats like those in your illustration. It has stuck with me to this day.
We aren't there yet but that may not last.
